Two of my four orchids have set flower spikes again (all four bloomed last year); I hope the other two follow suit! |

What is that, is it like making umbrellas? |
| jen | (reply to Enheduanna) posted 5-Aug-2009 6:12pm what type???
I have a ladyslipper blooming right now, and just finished blooming an Ascocenda. one of my Vandas has 3 nubs, but has yet to start extending a spike. the wait is killing me on that one - it's my first blue vanda! |
| Enheduanna | (reply to jen) posted 5-Aug-2009 7:10pm One's a phal and one's a dwarf dendrobium. I got the dwarf dendrobium at the flower show a few years ago, and it has made a new bulb and produced flowers like clockwork every year. The phal went five years without and finally bloomed last year--and it had two spikes! The ones that don't have spikes yet are another phal and a lady slipper. That phal kept its blooms for about 6 months and only faded about a month ago, so I expect it to be a while. |

| ElvisFan67 | posted 5-Aug-2009 8:34pm If I had it to do over again, I would have become an English teacher, because I was always a straight A student in English all throughout school, and I believe that's where my talents lie. So I think I missed my calling there. |

A huge area of grassland in Scotland would be nice. If I win the lottery, this WILL become a reality. |

| Crayons | posted 6-Aug-2009 2:38pm Well, I'd like to work at home, maybe write a book that will be a best seller, so I could wake up at noon and go to bed a 1 AM every day.
Or a stand up comedian, because I thought it was cool how on Seinfeld, Jerry could really go wherever he wanted, he just had to go to shows. And he got to travel sometimes. So that would be just enough to get me out of the house and around people. |

You'll probably be the only SC who I would give a job too(THEY also), as you seem the only one who shares my views on animals. |

| risingroad | (reply to Wicksy) posted 15-Aug-2009 4:01pm I'm laughing because I know the whole lord and master thing of the Sinclairs (St. Clairs) and learned quite a bit when I was in Scotland in 2007.
Of course, when Wm. St. Clair built the Rosslyn Chapel he loaded it with pagan symbols and gods to supposedly defy the English who gave him the land. My English side "Chadwell" were fox hunters and brought it over to Virginia then NY where my Dad's family ran the hunt for the millionaires and Grand father married into the Sinclairs. Much too rich for my blood ... I DO NOT believe in hunting with dogs. Sort of an ongoing conversation in my family. I'm the black sheep. Or "green" sheep. Oh well, I think I will be a peasant Sinclair. Much more fun kicking up ones hills in the pubs and raising a ruckus. |
