SC Users. Do you have a Christmas wish list?

If you have one, would you mind posting it? We did something like this at NitCentral once. It was a fun experience. A lot of people who usually fought constantly actually got along for awhile.

1. plane tickets to Seattle to see my best friends

I got a new computer a few weeks ago btw, and since there is no faster CPU or better 3D card currently available on the mass market I'm fairly happy with it ;)

I'm a toy collector, so my wish is for certain toys I want to have in my collection. The Ultimate Iron Giant (22"), the new Playmates Borg figure (10"). But my razor has died, and so has my VCR, and my car needs new tires, and perhaps a few hundred dollars (conservatively) engine work, so I doubt much of my Christmas list will be fulfilled.

On the other hand, my wife's birthday is in mid December, and our anniversary is at the end, so my REAL wish list would include enough cash to buy her something to celebrate either or both of those events, as well.

magbast: that's the best wish of all. I'll put in a Christmas wish for your baby to be healthy, happy and surrounded by love. I made that wish for my own child several years ago. :)

There are a couple of networking books that I won't pay for (too expensive), so they are on the list. That's about it. I generally buy the stuff that I want.

Hmmmmmmmmm.

I was eight years old,it was Christmas, and I was looking out at the falling snow from the comfort of my home, when a little boy shuffled along the pavement in front of my home, with folded arms. You see it was 1948 and WW2 was not long over, and while my mom and dad were not wealthy they were able to provide my brother and myself with the basics of life :- food, shelter, clothing and....... love........... But it seemed to me at the time the little boy had none of the the things I enjoyed. Now I know it sounds crass but tears come into my eyes and my mother happened to notice my despair. She asked me what was wrong and I told her. Within seconds we took into our home the little waif. My mom stripped him of all his dishevelled clothing, bathed him and outfitted him in cloths that my brother and I had outgrown.

My wish Christmas wish is that all of the little children of the world have a far better future to look forward to than the one that presently confronts all of us.

That was really nice. It is nice to be reminded of what Christmas is really about. It is so easy to get caught up in the material giving and getting that we forget that there other, much more important and fulfilling ways to give and get. Thanks, miykal!!!

I still really want a car, though. ;)

This is what I want. Not all of my Christmas wishes are reasonable, but I can dream, can't I?
pajamas
clothes
perfume
jewelry (preferably from my boyfriend)
a stylish wallet or purse (I saw a really cute one at the GAP)
all As on finals
a car (keep dreaming...)
magazine subscriptions
a cool party to go to on New Years
and, of course, world peace.

My wife and I have now agreed on a joint gift of a DVD player for Christmas. Both of us have wanted one.

I usually put one together because my birthday is near xmas but this year I haven't. I've become less interested in presents over the years and more interested in the meaning behind giving them, particularly the idea that the act of finding a present for someone is a form of attention to that person's desires, and that potentially there are other ways of giving that attention.

I want to hear how miykal's story continues, too! :) I'm really touched by it.

I don't celebrate Xmas, being Jewish. But, I'll make a list of Hanukkah gifts:

1. An airline ticket for a good friend to come visit me over Winter Break (all ready bought... :)

2. The newest Doonesbury book

3. A new copy of Marge Piercy's "Gone to Soldiers"

4. Some new lingerie

5. A menorah (my ex ended up with ours when we split) - I've always wanted one of those beautiful artistic ones that they have at Peoples Pottery. But, I'm not all that observant - so my 'menorah' this year is a sign on the outside of my office door that shows a menorah picture and the words Happy Hanukkah.

6. The two newest Leonard and Larry cartoon books - all ready ordered.

7. The Microsoft Puzzle Collection - all ready ordered - I got addicted to the game LineUp at Mom's over Thanksgiving :)

Gifts given:

I bought a plane ticket for a good friend of mine to go visit his family over Xmas... one of his family members is dying, and he wouldn't have the money to make that trip otherwise.

I'm also going to buy a pretty bauble for my friends' Xmas tree... it's real pretty, and last night we strung popcorn and cranberry strands to adorn it with...
