Do you have a rock?

A rock is someone who is always supporting you. When you talk about them, you might use the expression "S/he is my rock."

I do not use that expression very much. In individual circumstances, I may have used that phrase to demonstrate an individual was stronger in one aspect than me. For instance, when it comes to going into a group setting where I don't know anyone, there would be someone I would go with that would help me find a comfort zone. Or working through a project, there would be that one person that would sna; 'don;t be lazy!' that woukld inspire me to keep moving. Not that I'm lazy, it''s just that person was a rock to me...someone solid to force me into taking that extra step I didn't think I could do alone.

No, I have a good friend I can express my issues with though.

I thought this was going to be about mineral specimens, in which case I actually have all sorts of rocks, both rare and sculpted.

Jehovah God is my rock! Next, my family and friends. I have many family and friends who have been there for me. When I had my stroke, my family and friends rallied around me in the hospital from 10:00AM to 10:00 PM every day for a week. When I went to rehab, I had family and friends visit almost every day, and my Patriot family visit me often...my son from an hour away...but I told him, not to worry, and no need to come every day. I love them all. I had so many flowers, gifts, pretty little angels, so many nice things.

I have many "rocks" , they're finer, and of more value to me, than all the diamonds, gold, precious gems, in the world.

No, I have a support network rather than a single individual upon whom I am dependent.

Yeah, me too. In which case I had a speech prepared about how in this part of Virginia, rocks are too expensive to have because they all have to be imported. It is a geological oddity here that you really won't find a lot of native rocks. Lots of tidal mud and silt and loamy swampland and such, but not a lot of rocks. Just a few miles to the west, it's a different story as you come upon the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, though.

Learn something new every day. I'm pretty happy with California, though I've been researching warmer Carribean islands.

Nope, I told this person everything.. and she told me everything also. Even down to our indiscretions with our significant others. She then decided to go behind my back years later and tell me fiance I had cheated on him. She was way worse. I mean she had year long relationships with other guys behind her husbands back, secret bank accounts saving his money so she could leave him, etc. People who live in glass whore houses should not throw stones...

How? She was a loyal friend for 5 1/2 years... Then the 180 dog move.

But wasn't she doing those other things to other people during those 5 1/2 years? Were you unaware of them? Did you imagine you were immune to how she operates? ..or was all of this behavior with everyone a sudden switch?

When I meet someone with characteristics I don't care for, I take for granted that they will affect me eventually as well, and thus really don't associate much with anyone I couldn't recommend to anyone.

Well ok, I guess she did sleep with one of her friends husbands also. I just thought I was immune to how she operates. Your right I should have seen her for trash earlier. I dunno.. All I know is I hate her ass and I better not ever see her out and about * grin *

It is so hard to find anyone decent these days.

Not really. That's just an illusion created by a quirk in human behavior. As the philosopher Simon said, "...a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest...". It applies to women as well.

Everyone I know is decent. Quirky, but decent. A few people don't step up the decency part until they reach 30 or so, and have learned better.
