| labjog | posted 13-Jul-2009 10:34am Accounting and administration would pay the most, I have realized that the more you sit on your ass or golf, and tell the peons what you want them to do, the more money you make. I encourage young people to go into bussiness administration, not nursing or any other kind of scutt work. The medical field is no longer about caring for people and helping people. Hospitals care more about how much money they can bring in so they can pay their administration big bucks. Very sad. If you are one of the medical people who are in it to care fore people, you get used and abused and burned out pretty quickly.
The job I would enjoy the most would be reserch and development. |
| Galomorro | posted 13-Jul-2009 10:43am None. I'd prefer it most if I could do repetitive, easy work and be in a room by myself, but with a window. Would prefer to work outdoors (also alone), however, and not in an office. |

| jettles | posted 13-Jul-2009 12:21pm none of these would be my first choice, i'm not a "company girl" then again if i had to choose it would be research and development, accounting or manufacturing. |
| LJD | posted 13-Jul-2009 1:27pm Quality research/development, engineering, purchasing |
| cerealkiller | posted 13-Jul-2009 3:03pm Out of these choices only engineering. The rest are totally boring, inconsistent with my skills or low-end jobs |
| autumnlight | posted 13-Jul-2009 3:48pm Aren't accounting and finance the same? R&D is probably more me, but I actually work in IT/support. |
| Galomorro | (reply to labjog) posted 13-Jul-2009 6:28pm Nah, that would involve interacting with people too much, and I'm bad at math, making change, etc. I'd like something more like working with animals or in a forest, a nursery - something to do with plants. Old hermit here. |
| cloudhugger | posted 14-Jul-2009 10:43am ...I fell asleep reading that list...
Work? pffffft I'm retired. |
| cloudhugger | posted 14-Jul-2009 10:48am I think Engineering would hold my interest, but I do much better at a job that isn't redundant. Either it would involve some travel, change of scenery, different applications, something to keep me interested which tends to bring out better results.
I would like to give research and development a shot, I love to look at things and figure out how to make it better. |
| rustygirl50 | posted 19-Jul-2009 8:11am none of the above |
| Gomezy3k | posted 19-Jul-2009 10:19am Hmm Research & Development, or Testing. However the one department not listed, Strong arm collections, where you break the knee caps of those who do not pay for what the company makes, would be the one I would really love. Or perhaps Security where you shoot those who trespass. |
| Biggles | posted 22-Jul-2009 7:05pm I would probably die a little inside if these were my only options. Can't I be the company doctor? Um, a public sector company doctor...? |

Not that nationalised healthcare is perfect, or that it doesn't abuse/burn out its staff, but at least you can avoid the sense that you are being used as a commodity to turn someone a profit. |
| mandy | posted 31-Aug-2009 8:43pm none |
| bill | (reply to Melf) posted 7-Oct-2009 8:49am That's marketing and perhaps sales.
R&D would be more like: "What sort of fluff should we put in these cushions?" "um" "Well, the molecular structure of syntho-coton syroballs seem like the best fit, mathematically speaking" "right, right" "It will cost o.003678 quid less per unit as well!" "The boss'll like that." "OK, we're done. Lets get some tapas across the street." "'k" |
| Melf | posted 7-Oct-2009 12:01pm Quid! |
| LindaH | posted 17-Oct-2009 11:46pm Research and development, testing, or marketing. I'd love to make ads. |
