No. I don't think there's a rash of celebrity deaths. I think there's a rash of noticing celebrity deaths.

FYI - Secretary of Defense back in the 60's.

Notoriety would be more like it. He was the primary person instrumental in getting us into the Vietnam War. Of course after the fact he realized it was a huge mistake.

I suppose. Depends on one's definition of celebrity. I don't think there is some cosmic karass here in which M. Jackson and R. McNamara have some inextricable link.

I heard of McNamara before I heard of any other recent celebrity who died lately. No, I take that back. I heard of Karl Malden before R. N.

why so loud?
He's an artist, right? Cartoon style? Not as famous as the rash we've seen, and he had a full life, unless his demise was untimely. I'd say foot*note.

I wouldn't count him as a celebrity myself. Notorious, maybe, but that has more negative connotations than he perhaps deserves.

Well, I notice them when they are broadcast on the radio.

An artist? Not so far as I know. Secretary of defense in the 1960s. He was the brains behind the Viet Nam war.
Cerealkiller said he was responsible for getting us into that war, but I don't think that was the case. I believe Lyndon Johnson was primarily responsible for that. Mcnamara ran the war for the most part, was gung-ho for it at first, but then came to characterize it as a "terrible, terrible mistake". This brought him into disfavor with the administration.
