| wigarach | posted 1-Jul-2009 7:31am For gods sake what size can you be without being critised people should just get over it ! skinny people and fat people all have hang ups about their bodies! Nobody should have to hold back because of their size, its so sick! |
| bill | posted 1-Jul-2009 8:12am When the revolution comes, the skinny people will be the first up against the wall. Then the foodies! |
| Jody | posted 1-Jul-2009 9:46am I generally believe it's not okay to bash anyone.... |
| Enheduanna | (reply to bill) posted 1-Jul-2009 11:52am What about skinny foodies? |
| Biggles | posted 1-Jul-2009 11:52am I don't think that's the reason that skinny people are criticised - and let's not pretend that it really is a case of "skinny bashing". "Skinny" is idolised in the media and public eye - only "emaciated" is bashed. What's a bigger problem (no pun intended) in the West and increasingly in a lot of developing countries? Obviously obesity. But that doesn't mean that the other extreme is any good either. |
| bill | (reply to Enheduanna) posted 1-Jul-2009 12:52pm Oh, they're all right! |
| Enheduanna | (reply to bill) posted 1-Jul-2009 1:53pm Adam will be relieved! |
| LJD | posted 1-Jul-2009 4:36pm No |
| Irene007 | posted 1-Jul-2009 9:29pm Uh no... I don't think that bashing for any reason is justifyable really. I've better things to do. |
| cloudhugger | posted 2-Jul-2009 10:55am No, it's rather stupid to bash anyone. If an overwieght person needs to feel better about themselves, perhaps they should bash their own habits that make theirselves feel like crap. |
| cloudhugger | (reply to Enheduanna) posted 2-Jul-2009 10:56am Tapeworms used to be a popular fad. |
| Enheduanna | (reply to cloudhugger) posted 2-Jul-2009 11:34am I think they still are, in Hollywood at least! |
| Jody | (reply to cloudhugger) posted 2-Jul-2009 11:35am They wouldn't have been if people had read something like this: http://www.fray.com/drugs/worm/
*shudder* |
| cloudhugger | (reply to Jody) posted 2-Jul-2009 2:26pm There was a system. Take the pill, when at desired weight take another pill to kill tapeworm. Rich people lose weight--doctors make a buck, everyone is happy. I'm sure the 'doctors' would poo-poo any info that made sense. |
| southernyankee | posted 2-Jul-2009 11:20pm What? Those methheads? Yeah, sure, I don't see why not. |
| they | posted 4-Jul-2009 2:50am Yes. |
| LindaH | posted 7-Jul-2009 10:32pm No. I don't think it is okay to bash anyone except for the truly deserving. By 'truly deserving' I mean absolutely horrible people. Nasty, wicked, evil. |
| autumnlight | posted 11-Jul-2009 5:27pm I don't think this is happening. Just like obesity is criticised, emaciation (is that even a word?!) is criticised. I think more people who look perfectly fine are publicly criticised, which I think is a more important issue. |
| Iseult | posted 14-Jul-2009 8:53am No, and quite frankly, I don't think it's okay to bash anyone. |
| FordGuy | (reply to Iseult) posted 15-Jul-2009 10:23am But would you take just anyone to a bash? |
| Wicksy | posted 6-Aug-2009 6:35am No.
QUESTION THAT I NEED ANSWERING PLEASE: There are a lot of overweight people on this planet. As a general percentage, how many are fat because of overeating and/or laziness and how many are fat because of a medical condition? |
| LindaH | (reply to Wicksy) posted 7-Aug-2009 2:09am How many are over-eaters or lazy due to undiagnosed and untreated mood disorders? |
| Wicksy | (reply to LindaH) posted 7-Aug-2009 4:22am > How many are over-eaters or lazy due to undiagnosed and untreated
> mood disorders? Worth discussing. But I would like to see how many overweight people are overweight due to their genetics, and how many are not. I think including overweight people that are overweight due to depression shouldn't be included in this question (but this is just for my benefit - I am sure they should be considered outside of this) |
| Crayons | (reply to Wicksy) posted 7-Aug-2009 10:21pm Huh. Well, in the USA, and around the world, people have been getting more overweight than before. Are there more people with medical conditions, or more with depression? What has changed since before? Food has changed, there's a lot more McDonald's than there were before. |

Food has changed, > there's a lot more McDonald's than there were before. I want to find out how many of the fat people living today are merely lazy, over-eaters or non active. I know a few fat people and all of them would have at least one of these. |
