Financial investing, stock market, etc. Even though the economy is bad I have never known a thing really about taking money and earning more with it. I have no clue about any of this. Of course I've never had money to play with anyhow.

Every day, there are a few things, too many to list. Most of which I'm able to get answers for. But, here's a sample...

Stonewall - the British gay-rights group lead by Ian Mckellen. ...I've been watching a documentary about Derek Jarman and it got mentioned by Derek in one of the interview clips, disparagingly (comparing it to more in-your-face style gay pride marches that Derek had done). Well, I read/scanned the wikipedia article about it and got the gist, so I'm satisfied. But, I hadn't heard of it before.

Bill Hicks - a stand-up comedian with a fairly biting social criticism style who died young (early 30s) of Pancreatic cancer. I hadn't heard of him, but I enjoyed some of his clips on YouTube. My wife had seen a show about comedians who died young/tragically, so she filled in some good info about him. But, I'd still like to track down the clip he did shortly before death for David Letterman (in the early 90s, I think) which got edited out. But, Letterman recently (last few years) played it and apologized to his mom (who came on the show).

Michael Jackson - I'd like to understand better what happened to him, specifically his psychology and all the odd behavior (surgery, child-like nature, what really happened). What went wrong that cast him in such a tragic role. Was it simply the mass popularity? I assume it was more. Maybe being a child star made it impossible for him to be normal? I don't actually think I could know the answer to this and I'm not willing to read books about it. But, I'd like to have some sort of concise theory on it that makes sense.

Iran's government - When the election was disputed, I looked it up some, but had trouble understanding it. I'd love to have a concise, understandable description of it and how it works with the supreme leader and the group of experts and that other group and who is elected and who is appointed and just the theory behind it. It seems an odd mix of democracy and religious dictatorship.

Max Ernst - an artist mentioned in a book I'm reading. Just curious what his art is like so I might understand a reference to him if I were to encounter it again. OK, just looked it up. I think I'm all set. Kind of Dali-like.

The first thing to realize is that when the economy is bad, that's when you should be buying stock. Sell when the economy is good. It's simple, really. But the economy is what it is because people are what they are. When the economy is bad, no one is buying, even those who can. Why? Human psychology with all its perversities is in full play. Those who can buy don't because they are convinced it's a bad time. People who get rich in the stock market are those who do the opposite of what everyone else is doing. That takes guts. And very few people have guts. I once made a bit of money in the stock market by doing just that. I don't have it any more. Know why? I spent it. And that is the only thing that interests me about money. I like to spend it. I am in no danger of getting rich because of that simple fact. Amassing large quantities of money does not fascinate me sufficiently that I will spend the time it takes to accomplish it. (oh, and BTW no, I did not spend it on drugs if that is what you are thinking. I spent it on fine dining, snappy clothes, symphony concerts and a friggin' POS car. I hate cars)

I've never bought stock in my life. I look at all the possible options with my 401k and just guess at it. Until recently I was making good profit on it, but now have lost over $16k in value.
Funny, I am responsible for estimating the cost of major construction projects from $100M to over $1B but have no clue about accounting and just numbers. I'm surprised I can even balance my checking account and sometimes I get confused doing that.
Hah, in 2005 we re-financed our house and took out over $100k in "equity" (hah again). It was gone in less than a year and the only tangible thing we did was spend $15k on a new roof. No clue where the rest went. And now the house is worth 25% of the value when we re-financed. We abandoned the house a year ago.

It's so nice of you to offer, but I need a pretty in-depth, in-person tutorial. (I have no clue how to even get started, even after looking through the user guide!) I think a friend who lives in the same city I do is going to help me out. But if you know of any good websites (besides Adobe's site) that have tutorials, how-tos, faqs, etc, that would definitely be helpful.

Right now, I only have basil, oregano, lemon thyme, and sage. I have plans for more though. Even though I don't cook with it, I love perennials and the smell and greenery.

One of the biggest challenges is to start with a good template. I believe Adobe allows you to download free templates for a variety of documentation types from their site. It does take time but it's not hard to get the basics....then it's another 6 months until you get all those "aha!" light bulbs going off over your head for all the nitty gritty stuff. Helpful hints can be found at http://www.geocities.com/CapitolHill/Senate/1059/f... , http://www.klariti.com/framemaker/index.shtml . Also, frame user email lists (with searchable archives) include http://www.freeframers.org/ and http://lists.frameusers.com/mailman/listinfo/frame... .

Thank you so much! Those sound like they'll be really helpful!
I've been trying to figure out the template thing--and why there seem to be so few of them but no option to open something without a template. I didn't realize you could download more of them. I'll give that a try.

Thyme and oregano are great in simple salad dressings. I squeeze a lemon, add a pinch of salt and pepper and a tablespoon or so of chopped thyme or oregano. Then whisk in a couple of tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil. The oregano version is fantastic over steak and arugula. And with the basil, you could make pesto. Or make a simple syrup to sweeten lemonade or iced tea: bring a cup of water and a half cup of sugar to a boil. Let it boil for a minute, then turn off the heat. Add a handful or two of basil leaves and let steep until syrup is cooled. Strain, and store in a jar in the fridge until you've used it all up.

Dark matter, and the event horizon on the outer edge of a black hole. Other dimensions, paralel universes, possible bubbles in the universes, quazars, what would happen if the earth's magnetic pole switch places, the results in the largest super collider of the black hole experiment, they plan to create atom sized black holes, but they are so unstable that such a black hole will disappear in a few seconds,so I dont know how they can get any data in a few seconds. They plan to try it again this Sep. Last Sep. they tried it and I heard 2 very large magnets bent! So they had to shut it down right away, and since then they have been working on it.
