I believe living in Reno or Las Vegas in the late 50's I could have experienced sandstorms but do not remember.

One of my most exciting moments was having a beach swept away from my under my feet in under a minute.

I was also once water skiiing on the Colorado river, touched my head to the back of my ski, and suddenly couldn't see a thing because of a sandstorm I wasn't in a position to see coming.

Yes, sort of. I was at the beach on an extremely windy day. My friend yelled at me for going.

Horses in a rainstorm yes, many times... Never met a lion I could lead around though LOL

only once on the California-Arizona boarder. Sand stings when it hits you and can damage car paint, visibility 0.
