| Crayons | posted 13-Jun-2009 12:30am Funny, that's what happened to me today. Just called in sick for school. |
| cloudhugger | posted 13-Jun-2009 9:22am Late is late, I won't rush to the point of making things worse for the day. But I would for-get about non lethal messes till later, I would do minimum clean up. I'd clean the barf, but not worry about the rag.
I made a career out of rushing last minute to not be late. when I found out acting crazy rushing around didn't make an iota of difference, I remained calm and stopped being late. Now when those last minute crazy things happen, I figure my client is most likely late also. |
| they | posted 13-Jun-2009 9:40am Stop rushing or call in.
Once I'm 6 minutes late, it hurts me. At my job, there isn't any difference between 6 min and 2 hours late... except you aren't paid until you start work. You are still late and it counts against you the same way. Lateness isn't really a problem for me usually. |
| Cain | posted 13-Jun-2009 11:00am I would keep rushing. I hate being late. |
| LindaH | posted 13-Jun-2009 11:10am I call in and tell them I might be a little late. |
| Enheduanna | posted 13-Jun-2009 1:10pm Continue rushing. Although this really never happens to me. |
| meowry | posted 13-Jun-2009 2:26pm I don't have a job. But if I did, and were late for work, I'd probably be in a panic. I'd always worry about how long I would keep getting paychecks. To me, life is money. I can't live without either. |
| jettles | posted 13-Jun-2009 5:13pm i am really never late for work............... but if all of this happened i would continue to work quickly to get there as soon as i could. |
| cerealkiller | posted 13-Jun-2009 7:55pm No such thing. I can show up any time, leave any time and just stay at home if I feel like it. |
| paulyw | posted 13-Jun-2009 10:42pm Call and tell boss I am running late. |
| southernyankee | posted 14-Jun-2009 12:23am Continue rushing followed by calling my boss telling him I am going to be a bit late. Then stay a few minutes extra to make up the difference like I am required to. |
| Gomezy3k | posted 14-Jun-2009 10:29am Work? What's that? Back when I was working I just kept driving... Didn't rush, if they didn't like it screw em... |
| cprasky | posted 14-Jun-2009 2:07pm Generally, once I realize I can't avoid being late, I will stop rushing. With my present job, calling in at the last minute is not an option, as I work a specified route, and management needs ample time to find another driver if I'm not going to be there. So if I am actually sick, I make it a point to call in at least four hours ahead of time. |
| autumnlight | posted 21-Jun-2009 12:28pm Stop rushing - and ring to explain. |
| coffee5437 | posted 25-Jun-2009 5:29pm Late is late, if I don't make late part of my career decision I think the boss can understand once or twice. |
