| LJD | posted 10-Jun-2009 1:50pm In 1989 I had a bad truck/car accident. I started going to a therapist for post trauma. The doctor told me, I have probably been in depression for 30 years. I just didn't know what it was. I was so stressed. They put me on anti-depressants...I stayed on them for about a month, took myself off, did nothing, as I didn't like feeling in lala land. I know you can't separate the mind/body/spirit. My emotions helped to take my body down. |

| cerealkiller | posted 10-Jun-2009 6:25pm How about forever? Clinical depression isn't diagnosed unless you've been like that for at least a couple weeks. Less than that you're just in a slump. |
| RainingFeathers | posted 10-Jun-2009 7:06pm More than a year. I was diagnosed with depression when I was 16 (though I probably 'had it' for a while before that). I 'got better' (as in, no longer needed medication), when I was 19. |
| Cain | posted 10-Jun-2009 9:10pm Started taking fluoxetine in august last year. so that's 10 months now. I don't really think they're helping. And I also think its testament to the UK health service that I've been on them for 10 straight months.... I'm fairly sure that's not a great idea. |
| meowry | posted 11-Jun-2009 10:58am Most of my life, when I was younger, I was constantly depressed. It's not so bad, now. |
| cloudhugger | posted 12-Jun-2009 1:08am I'd say about 10 years. Than I was drunk for about 12 years so I don't know if I was depressed or not, than depressed mostly on and not much off for another 5 years or so. I'm missing some years here doing the math, but recently for the past 2 years I have not been depressed for more than a week or so at a time. |
| autumnlight | posted 12-Jun-2009 10:52am August last year for about 2 weeks. I was starting to scare myself - I was so relieved when I snapped out of it. |
| rustygirl50 | posted 14-Jun-2009 9:52am After 9-11. I lost my fiance'. He lost his brother in the first plane that hit the 2 towers. He had a heart attack the next day, and died a few days later. |
| Gomezy3k | posted 14-Jun-2009 10:27am At least 58 years...and I expect it to carry on as long as I live... |
