Why do people hate anime so much? It doesn't hurt anybody.

It totally does hurt people. I saw a guy get his finger chopped off in one of those things. Or maybe it was a toe....

They don't hate anime. They hate hentai, but are stupid and can't tell the difference so they refer to hentai as anime.

I have no idea why anyone bothers reserving any negativity at all to things as harmless and benign as entertainment.

When something is inferior in many ways and yet wildly popular, it tends to evoke disdain from others.

I wasn't aware that "people" did hate anime. None of the people that I know hate it.

I don't "hate" it - it just doesn't do anything for me. I just don't pay any attention to it because of no interest. But no "hate."

"Why do people love anime so much?" seems more reasonable.

The impression I have is that anime is one of the most popular comic forms. People don't hate it, they love it. It's wildly popular. I'm not a big comic fan anyway but when I see anime I tend to think, "not more of the same".

By people you mean Americans? If so the answer is; anime is good the americans didn't invent/create it so they don't like it.

I like anime quite a bit. I have seen some I don't like at all, but as a whole I think it's pretty cool.

Be critical about what you don't know. People love to do that! It's why complaining is so popular. I and the sheeple have a love-hate relationship. I love to watch them hate me. But, speaking of anime, I'm going to AMA this month!

Seriously, I think it's all about the anime sub-culture that those who love it are just so different. And closed-minded people don't like different. It scares them.

I think the people who hate it are the people who don't understand it, or perhaps they have not seen good anime.... Good anime, like Hayao Miyazake's Spirited Away, is brilliant.
