| Galomorro | posted 22-May-2009 10:44am Don't do this well but it seems like a good thing to try to develop it better. |
| Enheduanna | posted 22-May-2009 11:56am I don't know. I've never really put it to the test. |
| Irene007 | posted 22-May-2009 12:23pm I'm not quite sure, having 20/20 vision all my life, I never needed to rely on touch all that much... |
| bill | posted 22-May-2009 2:27pm I'm pretty sure I could do this no problem. ...and lol, for making us all imagine touching cold meats |
| Crayons | posted 22-May-2009 4:33pm I don't know. I don't think mine is very good, but I don't feel inclined to go and touch the cold cuts. I know ham is often very slimy, like a dog's tongue. That's an easy one. |
| JessicaWoman99 | posted 22-May-2009 4:57pm No problem for me |
| Biggles | posted 22-May-2009 10:07pm I've never tested the sensitivity of my touch by caressing cold meats in the dark. Clearly, I am missing out.
I'm also not sure that I've ever written anything so unintentionally filthy as that... However, you might be interested to know that what we call "touch" is actually made up of lots of different modalities which have their own receptors and pathways to the central nervous system. You could have an extraordinary sensitivity to pain and heat for example, whilst having a hugely diminished ability to feel pressure or stroking. Neurology is never simple! |
| cloudhugger | posted 23-May-2009 5:02am Tell you what...I'll come over and rummage around in your fridge in the middle of the night and let you know. |
| they | posted 23-May-2009 8:33am Turn on the lights and put on some glasses!
You are fingering up the meat!! |

| bill | (reply to they) posted 23-May-2009 8:38am or a David Lynch film ... (*recalls twitching baked chickens from Eraserhead*) |
| LindaH | posted 23-May-2009 11:54am I've never tried this. I'm tactile sensitive when it comes to being distracted by physical sensations like uncomfortable clothes or itches, but that's a different thing than being able to identify by touch. |
| LJD | posted 23-May-2009 12:35pm If I ate cold cuts, I think I could identify them. |
| Matty | (reply to cloudhugger) posted 26-May-2009 12:11am Since I don't know what you look like, that wouldn't be a wise move. |
| Matty | (reply to they) posted 26-May-2009 12:12am my house...my rules. |
| they | (reply to Matty) posted 26-May-2009 7:13am As long as it's not my house... my meat. |
| cloudhugger | (reply to Matty) posted 26-May-2009 10:13am |
| they | (reply to cloudhugger) posted 26-May-2009 2:58pm Is that the face you make when you reach for lunchmeat? |
| cloudhugger | (reply to they) posted 26-May-2009 6:11pm Not just any hunk of meat. |
| they | (reply to cloudhugger) posted 26-May-2009 8:11pm |
| Matty | (reply to cloudhugger) posted 28-May-2009 7:43am so when are you going to feel my meat? |
| Matty | (reply to they) posted 28-May-2009 7:44am I would never reach for foreign meats...just meats that I am framiliar with. |
| they | (reply to Matty) posted 28-May-2009 8:30am Just your own meat? |
| they | posted 28-May-2009 8:31am Test. |
| Matty | (reply to they) posted 28-May-2009 9:23am ...meats with which I am framiliar |
| cloudhugger | (reply to Matty) posted 2-Jun-2009 1:33pm You did look at that picture close up didn't you? Oh, that's right...the lights are either off or dimmed. |
| Matty | (reply to cloudhugger) posted 2-Jun-2009 3:52pm Plus, I don't have my glasses on. |
| cloudhugger | (reply to Matty) posted 3-Jun-2009 8:38am You are just that sensitive if someone touched your meat in the dark |
| Matty | (reply to cloudhugger) posted 3-Jun-2009 10:15am Having my meat touched in the dark is a good thing. |
| Kristal_Rose | posted 7-Jul-2009 5:11am I would think most people are equally sensitive.
I'm a vegetarian, but expect I could identify ham, bologna, and roast beef by touch, as long as I knew the list, and wasn't trying to discern them from seaweed, wet leathar, or slimy molding orange peels. |
