Do you think that practicing an organized religion should come with an expiration date?

Organized religion tends to focus more on the worldly aspects of the teachings, and it can be a distraction from fully understanding those teachings.
Would society, generally, benefit from forcing a change of religious practices followed by its people?

I'm not sure I get what you're saying in the explanation. Though, I don't like the implication of the "forcing" aspect. Forcing and religion don't mix well. You have to let people decide for themselves.

I am in favor of teaching our kids about all kinds of religion when they are young, though. Religion and religious history are important and interesting. I think knowing about it is something our kids could benefit from quite a bit. I think educating them would tend to give them the intellectual tools to put religion into better context in their adult lives.

Yes, it should be remembered that people lived very different lives when these religions were founded. Times and lifestyles change over the years and what people thought back then in more primitive times clashes with what people know now. Religions should make life better for people and make them happy; religions shouldn't be used to bully or punish other people.

Yes, I think its time we move on and take up disorganized religion. Afterall, honestly, no one really knows whats our there once you die, and its anybody guess as good as others.

In fact, we're already started doing that. We already have thousands of churches to pick from and people are constantly refining their ideas.

(Damn, I just realized I hadn't read that right. I've glossed over the "forced" part. No, off course no one should be forced to give up their religion.)

It wouldn't really work. I think people are better off without it, but not enough people realize it yet. I think it's going to happen, more or less, on its own. Those people who are going to be old fashioned and try to keep the religions going are eventually, I think, going to be outnumbered.

Society would benefit if people would learn to mind their own fudging business.

FORCING? No. No one benefits from anyone controlling any harmless actions, beliefs or behaviors by force. People would secretly still believe what they want.

Definitely...in fact I think RELIGIOUS people should have an expiration date... They are irritating and ignorant... True it would be nice to have a god to worship, but unfortunately there are none out there... the so called Christian god sucks and is worthless as teats on a boar hog as my ol pappy used to say.

I'm an atheist and fairly anti-religion, but I haven't got a clue what your explanation means or how it relates to the question.

It depends upon if one is merely "religious" or converted. There's a world of difference. When one gets converted its a lifetime commitment. After all eternity is in view. God even, Jesus Christ is preparing those folk for that. To be with Him for all eternity. Also, it's worth while since, it really does change one's life. (conversion that is).

I'm not sure which organized religion you're talking about. My church focuses on God's word, as written in the Bible, which is about as far away from worldly as you can get. I think all real Christian churches should focus on this also.

And it should expire now. I am totally opposed to any and all organized religions. I feel that organized religion is the teaching of man and it separates man from God.

There are good and bad in all things. Organized religion can be a good and it can also be destructive. However, it is not the religion at fault. It is the nature of humankind that causes good and bad. Does anyone honestly believe that if there was no religion at all in the world that the world would be peaceful, fair, and loving. Religion does not cause the injustice and evil it is simply another manifestation of injustice and evil...which ultimately are as human as fairness and good are.

Organized religions become too rigid, while people tend to move towards enlightenment. As society evolves, I believe that organized religions tend to lose their hold over their followers...which is why we've had so many gods and organized religions in our known past.

No, that would be against freedom of choice. Once you start going down that slippery slope what do you think will be next?
