| ElvisFan67 | posted 10-May-2009 4:21pm From best to worst in the following order:
1. Driving into the sun 2. Driving through a construction zone 3. Driving during rush hour 4. Driving at night 5. Driving during the day in fog 6. Driving during the day in the rain 7. Driving at night in the rain 8. Driving at night in fog 9. Driving during the day in snow 10. Driving at night in snow 11. Driving during the day on ice 12. Driving at night on ice |
| cprasky | posted 11-May-2009 9:05am Driving through a construction zone and driving during rush hour are the options here I like best. Driving at night in the fog is the worst, though fog in the day isn't a whole lot better. At night during one of those heavy rains that's so bad you can't see past the hood of your car is about the same as fog at night. |

night fog night on ice day ice day fog day into the sun (fudging brutal) the rest I don't mind much at all, I went ahead and finished the survey, I like to drive anyway. |
| cloudhugger | (reply to labjog) posted 11-May-2009 1:11pm I used to work nights, and I'd have to drive 18 miles through corn fields of fog. Heavy dense thick fog where I couldn't see a foot past my windshield. I knew the road was a straight shot and prayed a horse or cow wasn't standing in the road because I would not see it till after I hit it and it slid up the hood and into the windshield. |

Isn't that scary? I had to be to work at 5am and I hated it when it was foggy. On the main roads it was bad enough, but at least the side of the road has white reflecting paint to guide you. Country roads are a nightmare!! |
| bill | posted 11-May-2009 1:49pm Strangely, I didn't rank ice as being that bad. I suppose it depends. Extreme ice where no traction is possible is really bad, but that almost never happens. Dense fog is really bad, but light fog isn't bad at all. Driving in a snow storm really sucks and I've done it enough that I avoid it now. Rain is bad at night... |
| cloudhugger | (reply to labjog) posted 11-May-2009 6:52pm Oh, yeah...one time in Rapid City area of S Dakota., there was so much fog we couldn't find our hotel. Of course we finally did, but I freaked out the next morning when I saw the mountain side road we were on. Yikes, fog is the worst. |

> Extreme ice where no traction is possible is really bad, but that > almost never happens. Here in Hampton Roads, VA (the region formerly known as Tidewater) the worst thing about driving on icy roads is the rest of the Virginia drivers. Our winters tend to be relatively mild, we don't get a lot of snow. The bad thing about that is, when it does happen, no one knows how to handle it. You wouldn't believe it, we get an inch of snow, half the State shuts down. I'm so glad I learned to drive in New York (the State, not the city). |
| bill | (reply to cprasky) posted 12-May-2009 6:47am Yeah, I've heard that sort of thing before. Admittedly, we get a similar though milder effect the first time it snows each season (more accidents, then people remember how to drive, mostly).
A couple friend's I had in college used to rush out to an empty parking lot with their cars to do donuts for the first snow. It was some kind of tradition. |

| Kristal_Rose | posted 18-May-2009 12:23am Ice doesn't sound fun. I've had very little snow driving.
Rain or night doesn't bother me, but I don't care for fog. |
| jeff71913 | posted 19-Jun-2009 9:46pm I have driven a truck for over 20 consecutive years and I base my answers on that experience. Night and Ice is by far the most dangerous. |
| Biggles | posted 7-Jul-2009 7:36pm I don't drive. I intend to learn in a couple of years, as I shall need to be able to drive by the time I am working. |
