| LJD | posted 6-May-2009 2:26am I'm well like by some people, but don't think that is necessarily being popular. |
| labjog | posted 6-May-2009 7:28am It depends. On payday I'm very popular, EVERYONE wants a piece of me then. The rest of the week, not so much. |
| jettles | posted 6-May-2009 7:51am i don't know, popular with who? probably just kinda there........... |
| cloudhugger | posted 6-May-2009 8:01am Popular as in people wanting to be me? Or popular as being on evreyone's guest list?
No, and no. I'm shocked people know me at any level. |
| FordGuy | posted 6-May-2009 8:19am I'm so popular. I'm so POPular. |
| Matty | posted 6-May-2009 9:28am I don't like to think in these terms. Having said that, I know I am not terribly popular here. |
| cprasky | posted 6-May-2009 9:40am Actually, I don't know if I am or not. Most of the people I come into contact with seem to get along with me okay. |

| Cain | posted 6-May-2009 10:08am Ha ha. No. See my recent forum post! |
| Galomorro | posted 6-May-2009 11:05am Nope. I'm a loner. |
| bill | posted 6-May-2009 11:10am As I think about this, I think it's complicated. Really, being unpopular is some kind of deep part of my personality. I define myself as not being popular or like typical people. I'm special, or something like that. So, it's not like I think of myself as a loser. On the contrary, I see myself as unique and willing to go against the flow, to do and be the less popular thing, to be myself despite the social ramifications.
I do suspect that on some level it's just a sort of psychological reaction I've had. Probably some early bad experiences with socializing (there's vague, cliche evidence of this in my childhood). So, I built up a personality based on avoiding people on some level. Though, clearly, I don't entirely avoid people and in fact enjoy interacting with people. I relate it to introversion, which I don't see as a bad thing. Though, I think I'm just shy at times too, and probably have some amount of social anxiety (though, I can deal if I have to.. I just choose not to most of the time). Then, of course, there have been times and certain settings, where I was popular. One of the internal thoughts I've had since I was in grade school was that I'm some sort "king of the nerds". Among certain others who may be outcasts themselves, I can do quite well. I suppose I'm popular on some level here and other places online. Does that count, it seems like it shouldn't. And, maybe some of you would even disagree. I see many of you as more popular here than me. Really, I just run the place and that makes me popular, regardless of who I really am. Or, maybe my personality is what makes this place... it's some sort of extension of who I am and affects many subtle aspect of the site. It can seem like that to me, though that sounds egotistical. I suppose it makes some sense and maybe I've become more like this place as much as this place is like me. |
| dpurdy33 | posted 6-May-2009 11:14am I don't worry or think about it. Treat people properly everything will follow. |
| LindaH | posted 6-May-2009 11:26am Not really. But I don't try to be. |
| LindaH | (reply to Matty) posted 6-May-2009 11:27am Nothing wrong with not being popular. It's better than being infamous, like a few that have come and gone (and come and gone and come and gone and come and gone) from here. |
| Matty | (reply to LindaH) posted 6-May-2009 12:09pm I'm not exactly worried about it, but thanks. |

| Enheduanna | posted 6-May-2009 7:30pm This is not really a standard by which I measure myself. I have friends who like me and whom I like. That is all that matters. |

| Xandrick | posted 1-Jul-2009 3:28pm Everywhere I go in my city, and in other cities, somehow quite a few people here and there. Somehow, through connections or through parties or even small meetings, I get around fairly quickly, and there have been so many times that I run into people who know me, yet I'm not familiar with them.
...honestly, it's kinda nice. (^_^) |
