Oh about a C for Barack Obama so far and so good

Our grades run from A* - G (without a break) and then U for unclassified (which is a fail). A-levels are different (A-E?) but there's definitely still an E grade! Not that I'll rate Obama that low though I heard a lot more about what he did in his first few weeks, than later on - though that probably has a lot to do with me paying less attention (impending exams). I'll give him a B for now, I think.

I like his diplomatic efforts and reversal on US torture policy.
For economics, I think he has chosen a course that many believe is the right thing and I think he's putting up a good effort.
I have some concerns over it, but I'm willing to go along with the stimulus approach. Alternatives seem similarly problematic.
Though, I think his administration could do more to deal with the bank "bad debt" problems... maybe more extreme measures are needed now (e.g. something like temporary nationalization to restructure the bad assets). Fixing things sooner rather than letting problems fester.
He still supports warrentless wire-tapping, which I don't like, but that's nothing new.
He hasn't pushed for changing NAFTA (though he said he would during campaign), which I'm glad about.
I think it would have been better if they got a shelter dog instead of a fancy, hard to care for breed. But, I know allergies were an issue.
I like that the white house has a vegetable garden now.
I think his personality, his calm/cool demeanor and intelligent, reasoned approaches to problems is a good thing that will show dividends more and more over time.
I recently heard that only 25% of Americans identify themselves as Republicans now... that's not so good. Our two party system may be in jeopardy. Many of us like Obama, but if Obama and Democrats have little or no opposition, there will be abuses and problems soon.

I wonder if the reason for no E is because FAIL starts with F and it just seems more harsh.

B, I think he does a good job, barring 2 things...too much damned money in the stimulus package, and he hasn't addressed the ridiculous free-trade agrteements we have.

But overall, I am pretty pleased.

As for publishing the torture methods, that's what you want to do when you want to prevent future war crimes. I know you're a sadistic sociopath and don't even care whether or not those water boarded actually did anything, but you are an aberration, a deviant, the kind of person who should be kept on a watchlist to make sure you aren't skinning the neighbors and wearing their flesh as thong.

And what sucking as he doe exactly? if you're referring to him being polite at international gatherings, Bush did that too. But you didn't want him impeached for it.

The majority of people in this country in recent polls favor torture if it means keeping our country secure. Our "torture" is child's play compared to real torture.

I'm not happy on his war activities.

He'd get A if it were all about things like putting people to work making trains and wind-turbines.

I don't know if his economic position is based on things on wisdom I don't enough inside information on, or if he's just caving to special interests, or he has to compromise to to accomplish the good he is doing.

One party would be a beautiful thing. It's the only way to destroy the two party system and have each candidate examined by their own specific merits, and not their party affiliations.

We could have green, socialist, libertarian, communist, republican, and democrat Democrats to choose from, all with equal chances of getting into office (as long as primaries aren't already too much the product of insider negotiations rather than democracy).

Already we have democrats who are more republican, and vice-versa. IRV with a one party primary, followed by a one party IRV run-off (when people are better informed) is the best in my opinion.

If we simply went to a better vote counting system (I like approval voting or rating better than IRV but any of them are better than what we use now) then we could eliminate the primary entirely and I think the range of people's opinions would be better accounted for.

That is probably/hopefully true... the 1 party would splinter...

Hopefully everyone has their own platform, or there was never much point in the primaries in the first place.

Bush was not nearly as bad of a President as some people think he was. I didn't agree with everything he said or did, but he was much better than Obama is or ever will be. At least he protected this country from further terrorist attacks and preserved our Constitutional freedoms.

He's definitely lying and it doesn't take a genius to figure it out; just some common sense and knowledge about Obama what is going on. This could be the beginning of the end of life as we know it in this country unless something is done about Obummer and the rest of the worthless liberals in the White House and Congress. There are literally dozens of lawsuits regarding his birth certificate and it's a big issue and getting bigger by the day.

Mainly, because he is fearlessly going in the opposite direction of many that went before him. He is a "boat rocker" and this nation of "don't rock the boat" needs that.

I agree, Frostbrand. This civilization is going to have to start moving away from war, torture, and "we are the best so that allows us to get away with murder". A truly powerful nation is one that is humble and smart enough to get things accomplished without "might". USA does have to apologize for many of it's errors (deliberate errors, that is) and join the rest of those nations that are looking for global peace. Money always distorts things and that is what is the real problem: either too much or not enough. The boys (and girls) in this country aren't ushered over a threshhold of manhood so they have to prove it through violence. In Ashland, OR. here the boys are initiated into manhood with love and caring and also to learn to take the place of protector without violence. Many man who have never had that are even going over that threshhold. Ok... I've talked enough. Bye.

One Big Ass Mistake America

Somewhere between a C and D. A little closer to a D. I dock him mostly for the spending, or as he calls it, "spreading the wealth". This is no surprise coming from me I am sure. Though I give him credit for taking on the teachers unions, doing away with waterboarding, moving troops from Iraq to Pakistan, continuing Bush's policy of using unmanned drones to fight in Pakistan, and lets not forget putting a cap on the Somali pirates ass.

To be fair, its been a little over 100 days, so its really to early to start grading him. I'll lay off on him (well, for now at least) for the bowing thing and the being a bit too close with Chavez. I am sure the know-it-all talking heads (Sean Hanity, et al) will blow it out of proportion. Even Bush said that he'll chill out on the criticism, and he's been elected twice, and if its good enough for Bush then its good enough for me. I am sure the SC talking heads will get into it soon.
