| LJD | posted 27-Apr-2009 1:27pm As a young girl, I never heard foul language, it was never spoken in our home, nor amongst friends. I heard a few foul words, as I grew older, but never said them. After I met my husband, is when I said some foul words. The first time I said a foul word was in my 30's when in anger. My husband was shocked...he told me that comes from listening to him being in construction. I do not talk foul in public. I have not adapted to the poor language of today. I don't like slang, the destruction of the English language. I appreciate good language. |
| cprasky | posted 27-Apr-2009 1:55pm Yeah, I use a couple fairly frequently. Once, when I was still in my high chair Mom was making supper, but I was hungry for something right now! Mom let me have a grape, which she set on the high chair tray. I looked at it, then at her, and said, "One geep?"
So, every now and then, I'll ask her for some geeps. Hmm...noticed you didn't fickits, Cloud. |
| FengMuli | posted 27-Apr-2009 2:52pm I can remember a few words I used, which belonged to my grandparents' native languages, but I'm not using them anymore because nobody would understand them now around here! |

Jean because we are women and it is not proper for us to use foul and nasty language just not lady-like as they tell me, hey you are a woman and we got the bar of soap in our mouths if we cussed at all in our home. |

| jettles | posted 27-Apr-2009 6:13pm well, when i was little and my family would go to relatives or out for the whole day into the evening and then when we were almost home and i was asleep in the back of the car, my parents would tell me "we're home!" sing songy....... and somehow i turned that into "aaaahhhhh home" sing songy. so as an adult, sometimes when i get home after a long day out, i will say it............... my partner knows why. i don't say it in front of anyone else! well, except for now of course, |

Well, to be fair Cloud, neither do I. What I do remember is my mother telling me these things again and again as I was growing up over the years. |

| LJD | (reply to JessicaWoman99) posted 28-Apr-2009 10:01am The swine flu is just another reason we must protect our borders. Our country is no longer safe, as we're allowing sick people to bring in disease.
When I was in rehab because of my stroke, I was forced to take a TB test, because they said TB was becoming a problem, people were bringing in TB into the country. I'll always appreciate a real man, that knows how to treat a woman, doing it honestly. |

Just like with Mexico they do not seem to care what diseases they bring back from the Border or any other country to the USA? Just look at all the states that now have swine flu it should be contained in Mexico and yet it is not , and now there is a case of swine flu here in Colorado and all the way to New Jersey and New York people are reckless in regards to other people |

Me myself have those day's where i am not feeling so well and my doctor she put me on oxygen because i cannot breathe at night as i sleep and i am gasping for air in the middle of the night and i see my doctor tomorrow 8:30 and my oxygen content they test is very very low gets down below 90? I am very sick |
| LJD | (reply to JessicaWoman99) posted 28-Apr-2009 11:46pm Jessica, if you are waking between the hours of 3 - 5 it's your lungs . Have you had your heart checked? Do you take thyroid? If you are a blood type O, you should be taking thyroid, and if your doctor doesn't order it, take sea kelp for the iodine. Thyroid problems can make your heart have problems.
Oxygen below 90 is not the best. Do you know of a clinic close by that gives hydrogen peroxide treatments? Check. Otherwise try to get some food grade hydrogen peroxide, and follow directions, it will help to reoxygenate yourself. I wish you well. |

Yes i was 89 and the doctors were very concerned about me and it is all when I sleep at night in bed and when i cannot breathe and have not been waking much at all and just sleep right through it all? Plus resting as well i cannot breathe and will ask my doctor and see what she has to say on Thursday Yes i have had my heart checked and it is okay they tell me, had X-Ray's taken of my heart to a CT Scan and feels like my lungs are burning |

| LJD | (reply to JessicaWoman99) posted 29-Apr-2009 1:45pm Regarding disease, I have little trust in the AMA. As I've mentioned, no doctor found my thyroid problem in 40 years, after I had taken many tests through the years. Only with my present doctor, did he find I had a FLAT thyroid issue. that has caused many problems, one being heart. My doctor was astounded that another doctor hadn't found this problem. I know I had the problem when I was young, but nary another doctor told me this...makes me upset. This was neglect, pure and simple. Another issue an AMA doctor will address is adrenal exhaustion. Without adrenal function, we die. I was tested by a holistic doctor several years ago, and they said I had hypoglycemia (precursor to diabetes) and I need adrenal cortex injections. I had the adrenal I.V. and I felt, for about 15 minutes, a little upset stomach, BUT after that I never felt so good, since a child. I cried on the way home, I FELT SO GOOD. It was like a veil had been lifted. The AMA doctors are not addressing problems as they should. Why do you think places such as Starbucks are so busy and popular?,....BECAUSE of adrenal exhaustion.
Look to holistic medicine primarily. AMA have some branches of care I think are good, but not DISEASE. If you're having trouble breathing at night, primarily the lung/large bowel, then the digestive system (LIVER, spleen, pancreas, STOMACH), then the heart /small intestine/endocrine system. These are the times, the systems work during the night...if you're be woken during these times, it is that system that is troubled..and heal according. If you have more than a lung issue, which I surmise you do, I suggest a kidney herbal formula to start.. 11:00PM - 1:00 gallbladder system 1:00AM - 3:00 liver system 3:00AM - 5:00 lung system 5:00AM - 7:00 large bowel |

| Gomezy3k | posted 3-May-2009 10:05am Pretty much all words... I was raised to deal with adults and to talk like an adult so I have always used adult words. I went to a one room school house and was the only first grader, (the next grade up was a couple of 4th graders) there so had to deal with the older kids. I didn't really get around kids my own age until I was older so had trouble dealing with them since they were so juvenile... |

| Melf | posted 29-Jul-2009 8:06am Me, Amy, and David talk in baby talk a bit too much.
Bed = boboes Spaghetti = Sgettens Snuggles = Snuggens I turns into 'I's' - 'I's goin' boboes' The guinea pigs and rabbits are 'the guineas' and 'the bunnies' or, collectively 'the kids' or 'the boys' (even though Matilda's a lady) David = 'that boy' - 'That boy, he snorens.' Erm, I sound like a live in a dream. 'I's getten in the baf, haven loadsa bubbles. Get all nice and squeaky-cleany, rub-a-dub-dub. Then I's go boboes. I's sleepy fish. My hair, it all be wet. Oh no.' Edit: Thousands means lots, or much of anything. 'Is he fat?' 'Thousands fat.' |
| Biggles | posted 15-Aug-2009 1:59pm We occasionally call pitta bread "rainy bread" because that's what my little brother called it when he was four or five years old. We sang a song at infant school about rain falling and making a "pitter patter pit pat" sound (with sound effects) so I think that's where his confusion arose. I'm struggling to think of other words that we used that were childish in some way but the only ones I can think of are "poop" for fart (which I will probably never be able to use again now that the American meaning is much more widely known here) and "tiddler" for penis which I doubt I will use with my children either. |
