| Frostbrand | posted 21-Nov-1999 4:45am My first grad teacher was pure evil. She once made me sit in the back of the room becuase I claped with my hands cupped, or as she called it, "the bad way." I mean, don't most of us clap with our hands cupped, as opposed to with our hands flat? |
| Pomeranian | posted 21-Nov-1999 6:02am Oh God Yes. There was this Latin teacher in High School who told me on many occasions I would amount to NOTHING. He was wrong. Whenever I get *really* down and want to quit something, I think of him, and it firms up my resolve. I feel the need to point out, that I had a core group of teacher in High School who actively encouraged me, so it all balances out. But, god I hated that man. |
| mandy | posted 21-Nov-1999 2:15pm of course. |
| magbast | posted 21-Nov-1999 3:05pm yeah, only cuz i cut up in class all the time...my senior year, i had a teacher that really had it out for me...to me it was just goof class(typing)...so i rarely took it serious...so she wrote me up constantly...then one day...she corners me after class and tells me she's only doing it because she loves me...whoaaa...maybe it was just me...but that made me a tad bit uncomfortable...i know she didn't mean it in the context that most use it..but it was still odd hearing that from a teacher |
| bill | posted 21-Nov-1999 6:13pm I don't recall. My impression is that they were generally all very good and interested in helping me learn. |
| Matt | posted 21-Nov-1999 7:04pm When I was in high school, I had a Science teacher that was a wacko... at the parent teacher meeting, I went with my mother and he told her I was too disruptive in class, was always fooling around, kept the others from learning and all sorts of gobledy gook like that... all this after we had seen all my other teachers who had told her I was too quiet... so much so that even one of em had told her I was like a plant, just had to water me every so often and check up just to make sure I was still there. My science teacher was a "/$%#* |
| fooyun | posted 21-Nov-1999 7:42pm Oh yeah, 2nd grade Mrs. Kain. She and Mrs. Miller, two of the most racist teachers ever to walk the planet. Besides them, most of my other teachers have never considered race a factor when teaching me. |
| Mariah | posted 22-Nov-1999 12:28am Yes. Teachers at my high school have commented on my family, friends, activities, and even my weight. I was once having an especially bad day (this is 8th grade) and a teacher started yelling at me. I started crying because the whole day was just so hard and frustrating. The teacher told me that I must have low self-esteem and probably a bad home life as well. I walked out of her classroom that day. |
| cpierson | posted 22-Nov-1999 10:04am The heck with "seemed." I had a prof once who hated me (the feeling was copiously mutual). I got a good grade, though -- thank you, bell curve system! :) |
| drdt | posted 22-Nov-1999 6:52pm I probably earned it, too. |
| slippinx | posted 25-Nov-1999 8:58pm My math teacher like has a habbit of calling on me. She does everyday. Usually I dont know the answers but she calls on me anyways because she knows that. She calls on me by far more than she calls on any other student. I seriously think she hates me. |
| Oscar | posted 26-Nov-1999 1:54pm They were all out to get me. They were jealous because I could have taught the class better... |
| Wicksy | posted 27-Nov-1999 1:18am music teacher |
| Lauren | posted 27-Nov-1999 10:17pm Yes! My chorus teacher hates me because I don't have the greatest voice in the world. I do sing on key most of the time though. |
| Maarten | posted 30-Nov-1999 10:25am Absolutely. There's one thing a lot of teachers can't stand: when you know something they don't. Especially when it happens more than once. |
| drdt | posted 1-Dec-1999 4:06pm Teachers also hate it when you can't seem to grasp what they think is a simple concept. |
| Frostbrand | posted 1-Dec-1999 11:15pm drdt: I hate it when HIGH SCHOOL teachers tell us it's "nap time." |
| Mariah | posted 2-Dec-1999 12:40am I WISH that someone would give me a nap time. I always thought that Napping 101 should be a required course in high school. Everyone would have been so much more mellow. |
| Jane | posted 2-Dec-1999 10:52pm me too! If I was allowed to take a nap during school I probably wouldn't fall asleep during western civ. I think that a special "nap time" for relaxing, sleeping, reading, whatever, would be so beneficial. But the only way to fit that in would be to make school start earlier, which would defeat the purpose all together..... |
| drdt | posted 3-Dec-1999 2:56pm Brian, Jane: in my high school they called it 'study hall'. |
| Jane | posted 3-Dec-1999 5:12pm drdt- Yeah, I've heard that exists somewhere but, sadly, not at my school. |
| Mizzy | posted 5-Dec-1999 4:22pm one of my teachers last year, man that woman HATED me. we would argue with eachother until we were both blue in the face. (maybe cause i was the only one who had the guts to yell at her) |
| Mozluvr | posted 14-Dec-1999 2:10am Almost all the teachers I've ever had have had deep seeded animosity at the very thought of me, but as soon as i graduated the class they loved me to no end... Maybe I don't deal with authority well... |
| eris | posted 10-Jan-2000 8:14pm My 8th grade social studies teacher seemed very frustrated by her inability to engage me with the material (I kept reading Sci Fi novels in the back of the class). |
| lonxedosol | posted 27-Jan-2000 10:50am Yes, this old ho-bag English teacher who was also the drama teacher. Since I wasn't in drama she seemed to hate me. But I was in her ENGLISH class! What's the problem? Plus, she was in her 50's, hitting on the BOYS in her class. What a slut. |
| mary | posted 1-Mar-2000 1:51pm A lot of them, I was a little hell raiser. Then there were those who really favored me more than the other students, so I think. |
| mary | posted 1-Mar-2000 1:54pm Oh, I spaced out my evil computers and typing teacher Mizzzz. Michael, with NO S on the end of Michael. What a dog she was, she hated ALL of us, and no one liked her in return. |
| RGirl | posted 17-Feb-2006 12:28am Oh, yeah. She didn't poor students. Neither did her mother, another teacher. Really laid into them. She especially didn't like shy & poor students- aka me. |
