My first grad teacher was pure evil. She once made me sit in the back of the room becuase I claped with my hands cupped, or as she called it, "the bad way." I mean, don't most of us clap with our hands cupped, as opposed to with our hands flat?

Oh God Yes. There was this Latin teacher in High School who told me on many occasions I would amount to NOTHING. He was wrong. Whenever I get *really* down and want to quit something, I think of him, and it firms up my resolve.
I feel the need to point out, that I had a core group of teacher in High School who actively encouraged me, so it all balances out.
But, god I hated that man.

yeah, only cuz i cut up in class all the time...my senior year, i had a teacher that really had it out for me...to me it was just goof class(typing)...so i rarely took it serious...so she wrote me up constantly...then one day...she corners me after class and tells me she's only doing it because she loves me...whoaaa...maybe it was just me...but that made me a tad bit uncomfortable...i know she didn't mean it in the context that most use it..but it was still odd hearing that from a teacher

I don't recall. My impression is that they were generally all very good and interested in helping me learn.

When I was in high school, I had a Science teacher that was a wacko... at the parent teacher meeting, I went with my mother and he told her I was too disruptive in class, was always fooling around, kept the others from learning and all sorts of gobledy gook like that... all this after we had seen all my other teachers who had told her I was too quiet... so much so that even one of em had told her I was like a plant, just had to water me every so often and check up just to make sure I was still there. My science teacher was a "/$%#*

Oh yeah, 2nd grade Mrs. Kain. She and Mrs. Miller, two of the most racist teachers ever to walk the planet. Besides them, most of my other teachers have never considered race a factor when teaching me.

Yes. Teachers at my high school have commented on my family, friends, activities, and even my weight. I was once having an especially bad day (this is 8th grade) and a teacher started yelling at me. I started crying because the whole day was just so hard and frustrating. The teacher told me that I must have low self-esteem and probably a bad home life as well. I walked out of her classroom that day.

The heck with "seemed." I had a prof once who hated me (the feeling was copiously mutual). I got a good grade, though -- thank you, bell curve system! :)

I probably earned it, too.

My math teacher like has a habbit of calling on me. She does everyday. Usually I dont know the answers but she calls on me anyways because she knows that. She calls on me by far more than she calls on any other student. I seriously think she hates me.

They were all out to get me. They were jealous because I could have taught the class better...

Yes! My chorus teacher hates me because I don't have the greatest voice in the world. I do sing on key most of the time though.

Absolutely. There's one thing a lot of teachers can't stand: when you know something they don't. Especially when it happens more than once.

Teachers also hate it when you can't seem to grasp what they think is a simple concept.

drdt: I hate it when HIGH SCHOOL teachers tell us it's "nap time."
Mariah

I WISH that someone would give me a nap time. I always thought that Napping 101 should be a required course in high school. Everyone would have been so much more mellow.

me too! If I was allowed to take a nap during school I probably wouldn't fall asleep during western civ. I think that a special "nap time" for relaxing, sleeping, reading, whatever, would be so beneficial. But the only way to fit that in would be to make school start earlier, which would defeat the purpose all together.....

Brian, Jane: in my high school they called it 'study hall'.

drdt- Yeah, I've heard that exists somewhere but, sadly, not at my school. * frown *

Almost all the teachers I've ever had have had deep seeded animosity at the very thought of me, but as soon as i graduated the class they loved me to no end... Maybe I don't deal with authority well...

My 8th grade social studies teacher seemed very frustrated by her inability to engage me with the material (I kept reading Sci Fi novels in the back of the class).

Yes, this old ho-bag English teacher who was also the drama teacher. Since I wasn't in drama she seemed to hate me. But I was in her ENGLISH class! What's the problem? Plus, she was in her 50's, hitting on the BOYS in her class. What a slut.

A lot of them, I was a little hell raiser. Then there were those who really favored me more than the other students, so I think.

Oh, I spaced out my evil computers and typing teacher Mizzzz. Michael, with NO S on the end of Michael. What a dog she was, she hated ALL of us, and no one liked her in return.
