Are US Conservatives racist?

As a group I have to say no. There are certainly Conservatives who are racists, but there are also liberals who are racist as well. Also Libertarians and Socialists and Communists. Racism is a vice that is not limited only to Conservative WASPS.

Yes, I think so.

I think the Ultra Conservatives are racist because they strongly resist any change to their way of thinking. Moderate Conservatives are less so, but it's not as overt. However I also think many liberals are ashamed to deal with their race.

Not all of them. Heck, maybe not even most of 'em anymore. But a lot of them use racist rhetoric and/or codewords to get elected.

No, at least not today. I don't think theres that many (hardcore) racists left these days. Although theres still a good bunch of homophobic ones running around.

For the most part, right-winged US conservatives are all about right-winged fiscal polices.

I think its more true of European conservatives though. Its sort of being a truism. European ultra conservatives are largely about racial stuff, then immigration, but they don't care that much about gays and the fiscal stuff. American ultra conservatives are all about economics, a little bit about gays, then immigration at a distant 3rd and finally race.

I don't know. It isn't the question I think of when in a converstion with a racist. I just walk away.
