Do people ever call you on the phone to look up something on the internet for them?

Yes, this happened recently when my Dad's computer died on him and he wanted me to look up some prices for him. Given the circumstances it didn't bug me.

I once called a friend to make hotel reservations in Chicago because our flight was delayed and we were going to miss our connection in O'Hare. It worked out pretty well.

Sure, friends and family alike will call when they need to find something or they are verifying information in front of a lying salesman. I don't mind at all; I am glad to help.

I do this for my mom sometimes, and I'm happy to do it.

It has never happened to me, but I have done it. At times when I've not had an internet connection at home, I have called my mum for certain bits of information - gas/electric conversions for the oven, a particular recipe, etc. She's usually on the computer when I call, and I'm pretty sure she doesn't mind as long as it's only occasionally!

I have a friend who will occasionally call me and ask me to log into her car loan site and use her card to make payments.

Never happened, but I'd think they were nuts and stupid and lazy and ignorant and idiotic and WTF? Qualifying that, of course, by the fact they had their own internet access. I can't do anything on the internet that anybody else couldn't do. I can do lots of other stuff nobody else can do - like knowing where my dog likes to be scratched - but not the internet stuff.

many, many, many times. people are in a pub and during conversation something comes up and all their drunk asses can't think of a word, song, movie, etc. and they call to have me look it up (why wasn't i invited to the gathering?); or one that really annoys me (i know i said i like it but...) someone who doesn't have internet at home. i love the person though.
