| doom | posted 23-Mar-1998 11:44am Definitely depends on the person. |
| hunter | posted 23-Mar-1998 12:17pm It entirely depends on the face. Some people look best clean-shaven, others only look right with a full beard. I think the more unusual types rarely look good on people, although there are exceptions. |
| Timmi | posted 23-Mar-1998 12:25pm No one "configuration" looks good on all faces. The "coolest-looking configuration" is different for each person. |
| bill | posted 23-Mar-1998 12:52pm Goatee has the highest potential for cool - but, I would never risk it. |
| fiore | posted 23-Mar-1998 2:32pm Fu-Manchu has to be one of the phattest facial hair configurations. Although, I also like the hair right under the lower lip. |
| elijahblue | posted 23-Mar-1998 2:48pm Depends on the person, their face shape and personality. I do think the goatee thing is getting to be overdone. I usually like clean shaven best on boyfriends (facial hair can be painful while kissing someone). |
| milktree | posted 23-Mar-1998 4:18pm this depends entirely on the shape (and sex) of the person. a beard that looks really good on one person would look silly on someone else. |
| Paco | posted 24-Mar-1998 2:51am Sideburns, of course! From ears till the neck... |
| presti | posted 24-Mar-1998 1:57pm Love a guy with a nice, shaped goatee! |
| Atzilut | posted 24-Mar-1998 2:21pm I was SO FURIOUS when that dewar's scotch ad campaign with all these goatee-ed guys came out with the caption "we've all done the goatee thing, can we just move on now" I'm like, you guys have no right ot be snotty, you're a f***ing domestic BLENDED scotch so just get over yourselves. *pant* *pant* ok, 'm better now. |
| laurel | posted 25-Mar-1998 6:30pm it varies widely for me. for me, i tend to like people best the way i originally saw them. for example, i prefer bill bearded, though he looks nice sans beard also. |
| jcdino | posted 25-Mar-1998 7:30pm I guess it depends on the person, but in almost all cases clean shaven. I used to just be that way with guys I liked (Ouch!), but it seems to have transferred itself to all of 'em :) |
| steve | posted 25-Mar-1998 9:23pm Bill: Risk it? What's the risk? You look goofy, you shave it off, it grows back. |
| romkey | posted 26-Mar-1998 10:28am nobody actually seems to agree on what exactly constitutes a goatee... - does the moustache attach to the beard or not? And where does the "Van Dyke" fit in? |
| Dolemite | posted 1-Apr-1998 6:46pm Clean shaven, though often I'll do that five o'clock shadow thing just out of laziness. Goatees are pretty cool, too though. The Padres seem to like them. |
| jefff | posted 6-Apr-1998 11:55am depends on the individual and the execution. Btw, according to Pablo, neighbor and owner of local fashion salon, a goatee is a small pointed beard which "floats" (ie is unconnected to any existing 'stache or 'burns). A Van Dyke is a pointed floating beard, closely trimmed, whose limbs (sides-pieces) flow back to follow the line of the lower jaw, and do not attach to the sideburns. I guess that makes a Van Dyke a kind of goatee. Pablo was both suprised and delighted that I had come up to him on the street and asked him this, btw - said it made him feel "like Jamaica Plain's Fashion Answer Man!" Then he vogued on down the street. My neighborhood rocks. |
| Pigeon | posted 7-Apr-1998 3:59pm I don't like facial hair.. It scratches. If the boyfriend decides to get facial hair i grow my leg hair out in protest |
| miyu | posted 12-Apr-1998 7:52pm facial hair may be nice to look at, but IMHO terrible to get close to... |
| Tonya | posted 16-Apr-1998 7:03am Baby face |
| lara | posted 22-Apr-1998 12:07am if my husband ever decides to get rid of his facial hair again, i'll shave my head in protest. |
| Jimmy | posted 22-Apr-1998 6:26am depends on the face |
| lelle | posted 14-May-1998 11:19am I think the coolest is a long beard in braids. |
| daver | posted 14-May-1998 1:50pm Uh oh...looks like I'll have to let my beard grow... |
| jjg | posted 14-May-1998 5:31pm Mutton-shops and a mustache |
| reality | posted 19-May-1998 10:32am It depends on the face. and I think a full beard includes the mustache. I currently have a full beard, it isn't particularly cool, but it is me. actually beards are cool, especially in driving snow, the snow collects in the beard, and you get inside and you can rub your face (which is quite warm) and fling ice chunks all over. really spiffy. |
| plots | posted 29-May-1998 11:46am I dont really like facial hair, it fits on some men but in general I don't like it. |
| phi | posted 17-Jun-1998 11:28pm Full beard and moustache, but neatly trimmed and that crap on the neck has got to go. |
| gilly | posted 14-Aug-1998 4:41pm Depends entirely on the person. Although I've never really seen mutton-chops look good on anyone, and I have seen people who tried them. |
| Biggles | posted 9-Aug-2006 12:42pm It depends on the man, but I think that most men look good clean shaven. |
