If he really existed (and there seems to be evidence that the myth is at least loosely based on a real person, from what I've read), it would have to be Jesus.

Jesus Christ.

I don't know. Right now who's the most famous, or through the history who's been the most famous?

Jesus. For most of the last 2000 years, at least two thirds of the global population will have known who Jesus was..

I would say either Jesus or Mohammed, in terms of sheer number of people who have heard of them.

Ah yes, Mohammed. The man who at 53 years old had sex with his 9 year old wife. It's good to see our heroes in this world are carefully selected!

Don't worry, I know you agree * wink *

If they were famous for non heroic reasons, doesn't that make them infamous?

Not necessarily. For example, I don't think Madonna is either a hero or infamous. She's just famous.

Jesus Christ. He IS a historical figure, for those of you who want to argue his existence. You can argue he wasn't who he said he was, but you cannot argue he didn't exist.
