Should I try listening to Scott Sigler's The Rookie (a podiobook)?

Description of The Rookie by Scott Sigler: Imagine a story that combines the intense football action of "Any Given Sunday" with the space opera style of "Star Wars" and the criminal underworld of "The Godfather. THE ROOKIE is set amongst a lethal pro football league 700 years in the future. Aliens play positions based on physiology, creating receivers that jump 25 feet into the air, linemen that bench-press 1,200 pounds, and linebackers that -- literally -- want to eat you. Organized crime runs every franchise, games are fixed and rival players are assassinated. Follow the story of Quentin Barnes, a 19-year-old quarterback prodigy that has been raised all his life to hate, and kill, those aliens. Quentin must deal with his racism and learn to lead, or hell wind up just another stat in the column marked "killed on the field."

I've been curious about this one for a while, and I'm pretty much caught up on all the "big" titles in podcast fiction (which reminds me, I should re-listen to heaven Pt 4 Wasteland before Heaven Pt. 5 War comes out), but on the other hand school and my own podcast may not give me the time I need to really engage in the story.

No.

And I didn't bother reading the description past with the space opera style of "Star Wars".

Who would win a fight: a gang of football players or "Star Wars" characters?

Sure, it sounds like a fun story for 12 to 16 year old boys.

Mayeb this was the wrong crowd to open up to. I don't if any of you have heard any podcast novels.

Quick mini-poll; who here has ever heard of the 7th Son Trilogy?

Are you Frostbrand? Then yes, I think you should give it a go. Are you LJD? Then no, I think you should probably skip it.

I've started listening. I'm about 9 episodes in and I'm enjoying it, though some of the technical football talk goes over my head. I'm one of those people who doesn't give a crap about football generally, unless my hometown team is in the playoffs then suddenly I'm a fanboy. * laughing out loud *
