| Enheduanna | posted 18-Jan-2009 1:45pm Men and women *are* equal. Whether everyone in the world will ever realize that is another matter. |
| Enheduanna | (reply to they) posted 18-Jan-2009 1:46pm Equal doesn't have to mean identical/same, though. |
| Galomorro | posted 18-Jan-2009 1:49pm They should certainly be equal in pay by now. |
| they | (reply to Enheduanna) posted 18-Jan-2009 1:55pm I guess if the creator meant "will we someday have the same rights?", I'd say yes.
But with the wording, I felt the need to point out that we are completely different. Women are typically better nurturers, while men are better (physical) providers and protectors. We developed with more patience and love and they developed with more upper body strength... It sometimes bothers me how motivated people are to take us away from these natural instincts. I'm not saying some people don't break the mold. I'm also not saying women should be at home, barefoot and pregnant... but, that IS how nature made us. Plus, I'm in kind of a nasty mood today.... so the sarcasm is pretty thick. |
| JessicaWoman99 | posted 18-Jan-2009 2:21pm No way will men and women ever be equal no no |
| Enheduanna | (reply to they) posted 18-Jan-2009 3:47pm I completely agree that men and women are, overall and in most cases, quite different. To me, equality means recognizing that these differences should be assigned equal valuations, not wiping these differences out. |
| Maarten | posted 18-Jan-2009 4:02pm They are. I think you mean: will they ever be treated equally?

| gambler | posted 18-Jan-2009 5:15pm In what? .........There alot of things I think women are far superior to men and vice-versa |
| Frostbrand | posted 18-Jan-2009 5:34pm What exactly do you mean by equal? |
| Emporer | posted 18-Jan-2009 6:00pm Only in a communist society. |
| bill | posted 18-Jan-2009 7:05pm *farts* um, what? |
| jettles | posted 18-Jan-2009 7:23pm i think men and women are equal. we are looked upon differently in society and thus not treated equally............ we all have different qualities and express ourselves differently, men from women and some men from other men and some women from other women. it's what it is |
| LJD | posted 18-Jan-2009 7:51pm I hope not! Men and women aren't equal, they're just different. |
| southernyankee | posted 18-Jan-2009 10:19pm Um, yes I guess. |
| docgbrown | posted 19-Jan-2009 5:02am Arn't they now? |
| Cain | posted 19-Jan-2009 2:15pm No. We're different. That's not a bad thing.. |
| Iseult | posted 19-Jan-2009 5:14pm As long as men have an extra appendage and women an extra hole, no. |
| cerealkiller | posted 19-Jan-2009 6:30pm No and they shouldn't be. They are different and so cannot be 'equal' in a lot of ways. |
| Biggles | posted 20-Jan-2009 9:59am Men and women are different, so I don't think that absolute equality is really something to aim for, but I don't see why ensuring that we have equal access to opportunity is something that shouldn't be achieved in the future. |
| Zang | posted 20-Jan-2009 10:09am |
| FauxLo | posted 20-Jan-2009 6:22pm It's doubtful. Mankind is too flawed to treat woman as equals. |
| Joanne | posted 20-Jan-2009 10:39pm Tough question. I think men are going to have to work pretty hard to do that. lol |
| Matty | posted 21-Jan-2009 9:14am not as long as men and women are different
However, I believe that men and women already have basically the same opportunities for success. |
| jen | posted 22-Jan-2009 8:27am the concept of equality is fairly unclear in this context. |
| Jody | posted 23-Jan-2009 12:04pm Will they be treated equally in the areas where it really counts (rights, opportunities, etc)? I sure hope so. |
| raymccarthy3 | posted 25-Jan-2009 2:42am They are already......but the equality is not true in all areas such as equal pay etc. " Equality" is a wonderful concept to strive for but one side or the other will always claim they are not being treated equally. |
| Psychopath | posted 2-Feb-2009 11:57am They already are equal. |
| beast666 | posted 4-Feb-2009 11:20am Women will never be equal to Men. |
| cloudhugger | posted 2-Mar-2009 1:29pm No. Women will always be superior. |

We should each play to our strengths and quit whining about wanting to be equal. The day every woman's vagina falls out of her into the shape of a penis or every man's penis is sucked up into his body to become a vagina will be the day we are equal. And I only say that because it will never happen.
