| longhaultrucker | posted 16-Jan-2009 6:18pm My dad never said it (much) but showed it by his actions |
| Enheduanna | posted 16-Jan-2009 6:23pm Not that often, but I always knew how much they loved me anyway. |
| jettles | posted 16-Jan-2009 6:45pm again i ask, to each other or to me?? i remember hearing them say it to me but not to each other although i knew they loved each other and me! |
| FauxLo | posted 16-Jan-2009 7:47pm I don't know. I don't think I heard them say it often, if at all. |
| kirst | posted 16-Jan-2009 8:04pm To me? My mom: Daily if not more often. My dad: Not sure---don't think he said it at all. Every once in a while now, he'll tell me that (usually after I tell him). I don't talk to him very often, though, and only see him once a year.
As for these options, I will choose "Often" but it only covers my mother's behavior. To each other? My mom has reported that my father only told her "I love you" three times during the course of their marriage. Once on their wedding day, once when she filed for divorce and I can't recall the circumstances of the third "I love you" declaration. I know it was not after the birth of either of their children. |
| kirst | (reply to jettles) posted 16-Jan-2009 8:05pm I found this question to be ambiguous as well. |
| LJD | posted 16-Jan-2009 8:51pm I don't recall, actually. I don't recall them saying it often, but I never felt insecure about their love for me. I know I make an effort with my children, and grandchildren to always tell them I love them, every time I see, or talk to them. I also tell them I'm proud of them. |
| Galomorro | posted 16-Jan-2009 9:49pm Don't know. My mom probably said it but I can't remember. |
| JessicaWoman99 | posted 17-Jan-2009 12:50am Hardly ever hear my parents say they love me |
| bill | posted 17-Jan-2009 6:16am I don't know, sometimes... I don't remember very well if or how often they said it, but I felt loved.
I'm not one to equate saying "I love you" a lot with actual love. |
| gambler | posted 17-Jan-2009 9:02am Rarely?........ but I never felt unloved, my parents were/are very affectionate so even though they never said it often I knew it |
| Cain | posted 17-Jan-2009 11:10am Rarely. But they showed me in other ways. So it was fine. |
| llamamama | posted 17-Jan-2009 1:46pm My mom says it to me every morning before she goes to work. I know they both said it to me all the time when I was younger, too. |
| Joanne | posted 17-Jan-2009 4:45pm To me or to each other? |
| Joanne | posted 17-Jan-2009 4:46pm I never look at the answers before I make a comment. I probably should. |
| Iseult | posted 17-Jan-2009 7:28pm I can't really recall.
I don't think I've ever heard my dad say it, ever. |
| Melf | (reply to Iseult) posted 17-Jan-2009 9:52pm Ditto. |
| Zang | posted 20-Jan-2009 10:10am Very frequently. Perhaps daily. |
| Biggles | posted 20-Jan-2009 10:17am My mother said it to us often, my father never said it (and has never said it). Never to one another. |
| Matty | posted 21-Jan-2009 9:20am My parents still say this to me. I can't complain about my upbringing with respect to my parents' love. |
| cloudhugger | posted 5-Feb-2009 11:30pm I don't remember. I don't remember my dad saying much, but towards the end, he said it often |
| they | posted 22-Feb-2009 11:55am I honestly don't remember hearing it. I'm sure I did -- because I felt loved. |
