| cloudhugger | posted 16-Jan-2009 9:13am I have about 4 or 5 that I use, and about a dozen for show.
Yes, I made this survey specifically for me. And I marked it 'awesome'. |
| LJD | posted 16-Jan-2009 10:14am Two....a ten cup, and a five cup. I don't drink coffee, but my husband does. He recently told me, he wished he had a 40 cup... |
| Enheduanna | posted 16-Jan-2009 11:15am Three. We have a Cuisinart Grind and Brew that we (really just my SO) use, we have an old Mr. Coffee that we keep for backup, and we have a little French press that we never use but that I figure is handy to have around, especially as it doesn't take up much space. |
| Enheduanna | (reply to cloudhugger) posted 16-Jan-2009 11:16am Why do you have coffee-makers for show? Are they special funky or unusual ones? |
| Galomorro | posted 16-Jan-2009 11:54am Just one. One of those pod coffee makers. Philips Senseo. Makes one cup at a time via pods of coffee. I normally just drink one cup a day so this is ideal for me. The pod packages cost about $5 or higher for 18 of 'em. |
| FauxLo | posted 16-Jan-2009 1:11pm One, it's broken, but that's not why I choose not to drink coffee. |
| bill | posted 16-Jan-2009 1:19pm 1 small 2-cup my wife uses daily
1 old 10 cup we use if we have guests 1 espresso machine we got as a wedding present that we've only used a couple times and it's way way in the back of a cabinet, but it's pretty nice I'm not counting the Tassimo that I just threw away because it stopped working right and the cups were too expensive and I really just drink instant coffee anyway Oh crap, I think we have a little french press too... but it sucks... |
| jettles | posted 16-Jan-2009 2:51pm 2- a smaller one and a bigger one |
| jettles | posted 16-Jan-2009 2:53pm i marked you awesome as well! |
| longhaultrucker | posted 16-Jan-2009 6:13pm I just have one, i don't drink coffee anymore, just sits in the cabinet |
| LindaH | posted 16-Jan-2009 7:28pm 2. I drink tea now, though. I kind of miss coffee. |
| Pomeranian | posted 16-Jan-2009 9:06pm One but I quit drinking coffee so now it sits to rust unburnished, never to shine in use. |
| Cain | posted 17-Jan-2009 2:50pm None, not a coffee drinker. I wish I had a genie that could produce cups of tea on demand though. |
| Joanne | posted 17-Jan-2009 4:58pm One at a time. They break a lot. I gotta stop buying cheap. |
| Joanne | (reply to FauxLo) posted 17-Jan-2009 4:59pm > One, it's broken, but that's not why I choose not to drink coffee.
Doesn't surprise me. |
| Iseult | posted 17-Jan-2009 7:32pm Zero.
I own a water boiler (or whatever it's called, that thing that boils water for your coffee/tea). |
| JessicaWoman99 | posted 18-Jan-2009 12:07am I own 0 coffee makers need one for my birthday |
| JessicaWoman99 | (reply to Iseult) posted 18-Jan-2009 12:10am > Zero.
> > I own a water boiler (or whatever it's called, that thing that boils > water for your coffee/tea). I own 2 of those water kettles as well to boil water for the coffee works for me or tea as well |
| Gomezy3k | posted 18-Jan-2009 9:40am One which is one too many.. I hate coffee but my room mate and my girlfriend both love it so it is there in the way, taking up room on the counter... |
| they | posted 18-Jan-2009 12:06pm I have 2. |
| Emporer | posted 18-Jan-2009 6:47pm Who needs more than one? |
| Kristal_Rose | posted 19-Jan-2009 4:58am None, I've been using the same drip funnel for 20 years now. I have a grinder of course.
Oh wait, does my espresso machine count? If French presses are those pitcher-mugs with the built in plunger-strainer, then I have a couple of those too. |
| Iseult | (reply to JessicaWoman99) posted 19-Jan-2009 5:02pm I know, it's great! |
| JessicaWoman99 | (reply to Iseult) posted 19-Jan-2009 6:16pm > I know, it's great!
My coffee maker i let another gal she borrowed mine and never gave it back to me, it was an older one and she has since moved away and never saw her again Yea i should have said something to her but you know how women are ? |
| cerealkiller | posted 19-Jan-2009 6:31pm Probably 2-4. Don't know really since we never use them. I always go out for coffee. |
| Nitroeddy | posted 19-Jan-2009 6:42pm I have three. One in my house, one in my guest house and a small 4 cup in a trailer. |
| Iseult | (reply to JessicaWoman99) posted 19-Jan-2009 8:10pm Well, you would know. |
| Biggles | posted 20-Jan-2009 10:28am Biggles + coffee = death. |
| cloudhugger | (reply to Enheduanna) posted 20-Jan-2009 10:30am Anitques mostly. Ones I wouldn't use because they are made of aluminum or somewhat fragil. I have a few rare ones so I keep them on the shelf. It's all about the quality cup of coffee, but I can't help but show the ones I wouldn't use. |
| cloudhugger | (reply to Kristal_Rose) posted 20-Jan-2009 10:33am The two Chemex makers are the funnel drip kind. One of my first coffee makers. Yes, of course the espresso maker counts |
| cloudhugger | (reply to Biggles) posted 20-Jan-2009 10:34am I'm sorry...I laughed...
and I'm sorry I laughed at that. |
| Biggles | (reply to cloudhugger) posted 20-Jan-2009 10:37am It would probably be quite entertaining watching me on caffeine. Hopefully not quite so entertaining when I keel over though! |
| cloudhugger | (reply to Biggles) posted 20-Jan-2009 10:38am That's what they say...it's only funny till someone keels over and dies. |
| Biggles | (reply to cloudhugger) posted 20-Jan-2009 10:45am Or "it'll all end in tears" as my mother would say... |
| Enheduanna | (reply to cloudhugger) posted 20-Jan-2009 11:41am That's very cool. I'd love to see pictures of some of the antique ones! |
| Kristal_Rose | (reply to cloudhugger) posted 20-Jan-2009 5:45pm I prefer an open funnel with absolute control of the temperature and drip pattern. I add grounds to it all day and adjust my pouring technique for each mug accordingly. I have it all ergonomically layed out to select a mug from my collection, and could quickly grab grounds, sugar, and milk with my eyes closed. I should compost my bowl of grounds today before they start to mold. |
| Kristal_Rose | (reply to cloudhugger) posted 20-Jan-2009 5:50pm I was going to say aluminum shouldn't be a problem except under sustained exposure or acidic content, but then come to think of it that is the nature of coffee. Now you've got me wanting to find a stainless funnel sculpted in rocket-deco style. I had a ceramic one though, and found I preferred using Mellitta's lighter plastic. I'm amazed its held out so long. I have a lot of plastic in the house which has decayed already. |
| Lahdee | (reply to LindaH) posted 21-Jan-2009 7:47am > 2. I drink tea now, though. I kind of miss

| cloudhugger | (reply to Kristal_Rose) posted 22-Jan-2009 11:33am It's the coffee and the ceremony of the coffee. I have different kinds of mugs and cups to fit the type of coffee and the type of mood for the day. That's awesome. |
| cloudhugger | (reply to Lahdee) posted 22-Jan-2009 11:34am THAT was my fav coffee grounds for quite a while. |
| cloudhugger | (reply to Kristal_Rose) posted 22-Jan-2009 11:38am ooooo The funnel to pour the hot water with? That oughtn't matter, would it? |
| Kristal_Rose | (reply to cloudhugger) posted 23-Jan-2009 8:16am Exactly. It's ceremonial. |
| Kristal_Rose | (reply to cloudhugger) posted 23-Jan-2009 8:20am ..The funnel which holds the filter and grounds. Aluminum would be poisonous, Ceramic is heavy to move and chips if you aren't careful. Plastic works, but a light sculpted stainless-steel model would be cool enough to justify the additional weight, would be easier to clean, and probably neglibly less toxic. |
| cloudhugger | (reply to Kristal_Rose) posted 24-Jan-2009 10:51am We all need ceremony in our lives...some of us need them to be decaf, but nonthe less, ceremony is good. |
| beast666 | posted 4-Feb-2009 11:31am more than u sucka |
