What is the strangest or most unusual relationship you know?

There seems to be an influx of age related mating lately, but what about the other situations? Thinking maybe of race, ideas, spiritual or political match ups in love.

I know of an aunt who "lives with" her blood nephew. Pretty gross.

I think men and women of the same race, age, ethnicity and religious beliefs are the strangest, most unusual kind of pairing for a relationship. * raspberry *

hhhmmm, maybe, it just seems like such a self loathing stance to me with the republican party's general feeling towards the lesbian-gay population in more recent yrs.

I don't know. I think it's pretty strange for a person who likes having people over, likes going out dancing and meeting people, etc to be with a shut-in that doesn't like company, though.

It's hard to answer because most things I know don't seem strange to me.
I had a couple great aunts who lived together most of their lives. I think one had been married briefly earlier. They helped raise my mom and were very nice. We would visit them when I was a kid. Their house was filled with old things. I kind of wish I could go back there now and drink it all in a little better. When I was a kid, I think I was mostly just focused on their cookies, or the odd keys and keyholes all the doors had in them.

Republicans are'nt evil, Jettles. The gay couple who attends our parties and whom my wife and I genuinely consider friends are pretty staunch Republicans. Obviously, they don't like all planks of the platform, but generally speaking, they are quite conservative.

My own relationship (18 year difference) is the strangest I know. And it's not at all strange. Almost all of the other couples I can think of are very similar in personality, etc.

quite conservative and voting for people who would take away your rights or not being willing allow you the same rights as everyone else is quite different. i never said that republicans are evil. that said the direction of the party in the last 15 yrs or so is scary. i do see the grey areas to both parties and that they can be fairly overlapping at times but still......... the only reason in the end that any gay or lesbian person i have known votes republican is to protect their money.......... i just don't get it. i don't agree with everything the liberals say or do, i do feel that my life, partner, etc are welcome to participate without hiding who i am.

I went to college with a girl who misunderstood the conversation I was having with another classmate (about rabbits) and was glad to chime it that she too sleeps with her father. We kept our cool. She lived like husband and wife with her single (and previously estranged) Dad. She was the first but not the last. Years later I told an authority I was working with and he said that was nothing and introduced me to another Dad-Daughter couple that produced children for government assistance money. I currently know of a Mother & married Boyfriend (but not to her) couple that adds her grown son for spice once in a while. When I deduced it I contacted child-services and all were interviewed. As they are all of age the authorities here did nothing. So yeah, I've known some wierd relationships

There was a couple in Arizona in the news when we lived there years ago. The wife had a sex change to become a man and the husband had a sex change to become a woman. Pretty strange I'd say.

I know you never said Republicans are evil; I guess my intent didn't come through right. Anyway, I don't necessarily agree with the idea that protecting your money is the only reason to be a Republican. Steve and Carl, the gay couple whom I befriended, do very well financially; that's for sure. But counter-intuitive as it may seem, they are both staunchly opposed to abortion. Maybe this comes from their desire to have their own baby; I don't know. What I can tell you is that on nearly all issues imaginable with the exception of gay marriage, both Steve and Carl are considerably right oriented.

yes i can see that and i know that protecting money isn't the only reason for anyone to be republican but it is the only reason anyone i know who is gay is republican. and i can understand being pro life but the undertone of the republican party is to not give your friends any rights at all including the right to have their own baby and even though one may be the biological father, the other dad would be denied the right to adopt or to have any rights in the childs life. it is counter intuitive to me because although they may agree with most of the platform, their basic rights to BE a couple would be taken away or not given at all by the right and that IS the basis of their life together. it isn't just a marriage issue.
i don't think we have any arguement here, it is just something that i have trouble with philisophically i guess.............. i certainly don't agree with everything every "democrat" says or believe but i feel my basic rights are closer to being equal with them and even though unequal are safer with them. and that is the basis to my life then i am willing to work for the rest.

It certainly wasn't my intent to have an argument. Rather, I just wanted to point out that what might be counter intuitive could indeed be true in this case. As far as the parties...I despise them both. For me Republicans are content to let big business screw the people, and Democrats champion a tyranny of special interests. Both, however, are more concerned with maintaining power than being effective.

Goodness, no, given their attitudes toward women, I doubt there is anything you could say that would make me do anything other than chuckle.

As for the party system; I wouldn't really change anything. What I see that creates the problems, especially regarding gamesmanship, is the lobbiest system and the hatred of extremists like Michael Moorer and Sean Hannity. Take these away, and the party system would work just fine.

Like Practical Magic! You just re-reminded me of one of my favorite books.. I was just thinking about it last night, wanting to read it again and wondering where I loaned it last. I'm going to pick up a new copy at Half Price Books later, I think.
