| Enheduanna | posted 20-Dec-2008 11:05am I don't think I've ever worked somewhere that had a Christmas party. I've left pretty much all my old jobs on good terms, and if one of them happened to invite me to a party, I'd probably consider going. I might be lazy and anti-social and not go anyway, though. |
| Galomorro | posted 20-Dec-2008 11:29am Other: I would never go to a office party at any of my old jobsites. They'd never have me back anyway, I don't think, and they wouldn't be able to contact me by phone anyway since I have none. I don't like parties anyway, but especially not one with former workpeople. Double ugh. |
| gambler | posted 20-Dec-2008 1:33pm It would depend on why it was an Ex-job?......... If I was the one that left and it was amicable and I still liked the people sure I would go (as long as it was a formal invitation from a former boss and not just a co-worker) and conversely if it was an unpleasant departure ( I was fired, laid off) then No |
| LindaH | posted 20-Dec-2008 1:38pm Sure, why not |
| bill | posted 20-Dec-2008 2:12pm Just "yes" (somewhere between the first 2 answers). The hardest thing would be that it's a 2.5 hour drive because I've moved out of state. But, I'd love to see all my old friends there. Assuming, they are still there and still remember me (it has been like ~9 years now).
...oh, but come to think of it, I didn't really like the Xmas parties at that job, especially at the end as we got really large and it was just too many people and too formal and such. The early days, when the company was small was great though. I was envisioning a party of just the engineering/product group that I was in. |
| jettles | posted 20-Dec-2008 2:20pm i would have to think about it but wouldn't necessarily make a decision at the last minute............... maybe a day or two before. it would also depend on which job it was that invited me. |
| Cain | posted 20-Dec-2008 3:14pm Yeah, I'd be there. |
| Enigma | posted 20-Dec-2008 5:16pm I would definately go if this happened to me now. I met some really nice people at my last job and I'd love to see them again. I am still in touch with three of them. They also had a kick ass Spring luncheon when I was there. I know the boss is a cheap butt-hole but I'm sure Christmas luncheon would be just at least as nice thanks to management. I would make sure the people I stayed friendly with were going though. The job was so horrible the turnover there is amazing so I wouldn't know a lot of the people that are there now.
That being said, the boss there would never spend the money asking me back for something like that. Crap, they let me go three weeks before Christmas LAST year and never invited me to that Christmas luncheon! |
| cerealkiller | posted 20-Dec-2008 11:28pm Where's the answer choice for just plain "No"?? I never even go to my current employer's Christmas dinner let alone for a company I don't work for anymore.
We stopped going to Christmas parties years ago after my wife got drunk and made a fool of herself with my top executive boss at the time. |
| CarolL | posted 21-Dec-2008 3:49am No, fudge 'em. |
| RainingFeathers | posted 21-Dec-2008 1:53pm Yes, because I'm still quite close with the people from my last job. If I wasn't, then I wouldn't go. |
| JessicaWoman99 | posted 21-Dec-2008 8:36pm My former jobs would never ever have me back plus i am retired at 52 years old |
| Joanne | posted 21-Dec-2008 9:53pm How about simply, 'No, I wouldn't'. |
| Matty | posted 22-Dec-2008 8:05am No, I would have to go all the way to Manhattan. |
| cabinfever | posted 22-Dec-2008 9:43pm I do not know, I won't know until this happens to me. Depends on the job itself, why did I leave, did/do I get along with my former colleagues?
What's being served? Another question: Why would an employer do this? The people at the other, larger clinic had their own Christmas party and didn't invite any of us from the smaller clinic, which is pretty crapty. I'm sure that if the owner of the clinics knew this he wouldn't be happy. |
| cloudhugger | posted 23-Dec-2008 6:46pm I would have to see who else would show, and make that decision at the last minute or so...see how I feel and all. |
| cloudhugger | (reply to Joanne) posted 23-Dec-2008 6:49pm Never thought about a simple no. |
| Maarten | posted 24-Dec-2008 6:51pm It would depend on which old job invited me.
To some I'd go, to others not in a million years. |
| FauxLo | posted 31-Dec-2008 4:23pm I'm not for looking back or keeping ties with old co-workers, so "No". |
| judgescratch | posted 8-Jan-2009 10:26am My former job(s) would never have me back.
|
| Biggles | posted 20-Jan-2009 1:17pm Just no. |
| beast666 | posted 4-Feb-2009 11:34am depends if there are free drinks |
