What should I name my new child?

Many years ago, I made my first survey on SC titled what should I name my new son. Here look at it!
http://surveycentral.org/?x&V=7407&Next=0
We followed your sage advice and named him as you chose.
Now, it is time once again.
JustJulie is pregnant and we need your help!
As usual, we don't know if it is a boy or girl, so I chose a multiple answer survey.
If it helps, for purposes of alliteration, our last name is Jamerson.

My granddad's name was Orion. People never knew how to pronounce it: Oh-rye-un or Or-ee-un Nice name, though.

Molly for a girl, Bob for a boy. In an age where weird names are becoming the norm, soon normal names will become unique. Just sayin'.

You named your first child Other?!

Of these, I like Ella best for a girl. I'm not hugely fond of alliterative names, so although I like the name Jonah, I don't like Jonah Jamerson (sounds too much like Jenna Jamison). Plus, you've already got one child named after a biblical character who had some experiences with a boat and a storm; do you really need another? I don't like any of the boys' names you listed. What about Daniel? Isaac? Matthew? I think those are good names.

yeah, ill have to get around to reading that bible one of these days
i should buy one for noah so he can read about his namesake.
i think we had one in the house once, and my daughter cheyenne was living with us at the time, i think she was 8 years old. anyway she picked it up intending to read it front to back like a normal book. somehow she had the patience to get all the way through genesis. then brought the book to me and said
'I don't believe it.'
what was jonah's story? something about a whale?
i just like the sound of the name
and it would be jonah jude probably.

Jonah Jamerson sounds too much like J. Jonah Jameson, the newspaper publisher in Marvel comics who hates Spider-Man.

Yeah, Jonah starts out on a boat, but there's a storm and he ends up inside a big fish.
Most people don't make it too far into Genesis; there are a couple chapters of "begats" right near the beginning that deter people. But there are some good stories after that. It's an interesting book, worth reading if for no other reason than to understand a whole lot of literary references elsewhere. You don't have to believe it (I don't) in order to see its relevance.

I suppose so -- this is our first baby so I don't really know about these things. Carrying a baby through the summer is really hot for Mum tho, I'm lucky this one is due before the real heat kicks in in late Jan/Feb. And heating the house for a newborn shouldn't be too much of a problem either * smile *

I like the name Thomas, too, but you realize he'll always be Tom or even Tommy.

I'm 22, so no kids for me for a while. I'm thinking not before 30.

Iseult, or Ysault for that matter, is a beautiful name (well, I mean, I wouldn't've picked it otherwise). I could see myself naming my daughter that.

Where have you been?
