| bill | posted 12-Nov-1999 9:47am "complementarity" - this word uses 'm','e', and 't' twice but not next to each other. If that's what you meant by repeat, then, I've got 35 other 15 letter words like it. If you meant doesn't reuse any letter, then I found none in my Unix dictionary (/usr/dict/words). |
| anonymous | posted 12-Nov-1999 9:52am I mean no repeat of any letter anywhere in the word so it's wrong. Where do you find this all out anyway (I'm talking about the 15 other words) etc. |
| pandora | posted 12-Nov-1999 10:26am This is just annoying. |
| anonymous | posted 12-Nov-1999 10:28am That's 4 words Pandora. Wrong |

| bill | posted 12-Nov-1999 3:39pm anon - The Unix operating system has a word list in it, located at /usr/dict/words (not all versions of Unix have this). Anyway, I can use various Unix commands to find words that match a pattern (like "have 15 letters") then run some other checks like that look for repeated letters using something more powerful like perl (another utility). It didn't work though. That dictionary isn't the most complete one around. I found a few 13 letter words: ambidextrous bluestocking exclusionary incomputable lexicography loudspeaking malnourished So, what's the answer? |

| Zang | posted 31-Mar-2013 2:05pm I don't know. It could be "dermatoglyphics" or it might be "uncopyrightable". I suppose it really depends which one you are looking for and/or which one isn't really a word. |
