If your significant other went on a diet or a cleanse, how would that affect you?

VotesAnswer
14It would not affect me at all, I would carry on as usual with my regular eating habits.
10I would go on the diet or cleanse with them.
4I would eat normally but not in front of them, maybe in another room or go out.
4Other strategy.
3I have no significant other, but if I did I would...
3I cannot imagine what I would do because I don't have a significant other.
2I would not eat around them, or cook food when they were home.
1I would probably starve.

I would support him/her and maybe do it as well.

That would depend on if I needed a good "cleanse" as well.

I'd probably be an ass if it was a "cleanse" since I think they are unhealthy new-age BS. I might be an ass about the diet if it seemed wacky too. But, generally, my wife and I tend to gain or lose weight together and we don't do wacky diets or cleanses. So, factoring that out, I'd probably join her or at least engage in some parallel diet-like activity. We've recently both lost some weight, so this seems relevant.

I'd carry on with my normal eating habits. We don't eat the same foods all the time anyway, so it wouldn't affect me at all.

I have none but it would be fine with me. I would carry on as usual.

I could care less. It wouldn't change me any. We hardly ever eat the same things at all. I never eat anything at home and she eats oatmeal, soy milk, spring mix salads, other boring stuff.

Haha, funny story, my significant other wants to go on a diet. So I'm like, I'm going to start cooking 'healthy', although I have no idea how to do that, and I'm going to restrict what I'm buying from the grocery store. Of course, I already hog all the chocolate I buy and don't let anyone touch it.

Cleanses have been practiced by people all around the world for several hundreds of years. There is nothing new age about it. It's just good sense.

 * smile * I respectfully disagree (with the "good sense" part anyway). The whole "toxins" aspect seem especially unsubstatiated to me.

When my SO had the idea to do a cleanse once, I did it with him. I don't know if I would do it again, as I think cleanses are a load of crap. I'm not sure about a diet, either. I would probably at least do it with him at dinner time, when we eat together, if not the rest of the day. If he did go on a diet, though, he probably wouldn't expect me to do it, too, and he would be OK with me eating what I wanted around him.

Other - this is not something my partner would do.

If they want to do strange things - fine. But I would just carry on as usual. Fortunately my SO is at the moment invisible.

I would be pleased beyond measure and join her and even suggest we find fun ways to exercise together

Honestly, I don't know. It would depend on my mood at the time. If this were the case today, I'd probably do it.

It would depend on whether I approved or not. If they wanted to change to a healthier diet then I would probably join in on that (although I think my diet is pretty healthy anyway). If they wanted to go on a crash diet or do some kind of ridiculous detox then I would try and persuade them otherwise. I don't think I would be interested in someone as an SO if they were the type of person to opt for a "cleanse" though.
