What would you have named my fish?

I just got Fabio, the orange Betta. Male, of course. If he was yours, who would he be?

It's bad luck to name a fish.

You are going to kill it with that name.

My sister's husband wanted to name a stray they took in "Street Pizza". I thought that was a terrible name... so they named her "Temporary". She became permanent, but the name stuck.

Naw way, little cheap fish like that die real easy anyway. Plus, there is a Buddha statue in his bowl, so that should cancel out the bad luck!

Little cheap fish do not die unless people think of them as little cheap fish and let them die.

Goldfish can live more than 20 years. If you treat him like something that will just die when you are bored with him, he will do just that. It's a living thing. It's not a disposable toy.

Goldfish bowls are inhumane. Do your fish a favor and bring him back to the pet shop if you don't want to research proper ways to let it live it's pathetic little life in your tiny funky bowl.

I don't mean to be harsh, but your total disregard for life pisses me off a little bit.

PS. It hurts to die. It hurts to get a disease and have your fins rot off. It hurts to have a fungus eat away at your flesh. It hurts to not be able to breathe (this one I can vouch for).

Fish or not, it's life.

It was three dollars and it lived in a tiny cup in a dark shelf. I took a fish from the back of the shelf rather than the front, as though to be charitable. I'm an upgrade for him. Plus, bettas supposedly don't need as much room as goldfish. I'm doing the best I can, but I'm really not going to go all out for a tiny fish. Plus, if it seemed to be having a painful, slow death, I would at least end it quickly. There's only so much I can afford to do. I understand what you're saying, though.

Water changes are enough. Just use something to take out the chlorine and chemicals and do it often (like a few times per week if you are keeping that little bowl). Try to always keep some of the old water when you put in the new. Try to make sure the new water is the same room temp. as the old too.

Please, try to think about getting him a bigger bowl... It doesn't have to be a real fish bowl.

Betas are so depressing to look at anyway... it's worse when they are sick.

Thanks for not getting mad at my abrasiveness. I've had a bad week.
