When do you use a tablecloth at your house?

Holidays are worth a little more effort, but generally a tablecloth doesn't look as nice to me as polished wood. I like to use those charger plates under dinner plates for some elegance.

Placemats

I've used placemats, for family meals. I use tablecloths at holiday gatherings. Presently, bare table.

never? I don't think we own one... though, we may have in the past...

Occasionally for decoration or for special occasions. I don't use them much, mostly because I only have one I like and it's not right for every occasion.

Other: never do this. Don't own one and don't like this kind of decor. If I had to choose I'd take placemats.

All the time. Just cause it goes with the curtains in the kitchen and it's easy to wash if there's any spillage that might otherwise stain the table.

I use paper towels as place mats

On the boat, I use neither tablecloths nor placemats. At our house, we use placemats. I may switch back to tablecloths now that James is older and no longer pulls on them. He used to also have a sensory issue with the feel of a tablecloth against his legs. He's past that now.

Only on special occasions

anytime we eat at the dining room table, we use a table cloth. so for family meals, casual entertaining and on special occasions!! my partner has a collection of antique and retro tablecloths

I always have a tablecloth on my table.

I have 4 kids and a nice wood table, so there's always a tablecloth on it.

Those Oh-So-Special occasions. I think I've used them 3 times in my life. They are packed away, I'm not sure where they are. I love tablecloths, especially holiday or classy or retro old looking.

I'm always on the lookaout for retro and antique ones. It's tough to find one that hasn't been...erm...well seasoned throughout many many meals.

i have found a number of them for beth on ebay and then my aunt had an elderly neighbor who she helped care for and when she died, the woman's neice let my aunt have many things from her house. she found many older well kept tablecloths there and gave them to beth. they are wonderful.

I'm wondering if this is a gay thing. I was first turned on to the old tablecloths from a couple of fellas.

There's always a tablecloth on our table since the table itself is falling apart underneath the tablecloth. It's a really old table.

hmmm, i don't know. i thought it was a cooking thing. beth loves to cook and bake and entertain friends.
