I do what I want to first, then take little breaks from that to do the things that need to get done. Then I go back to doing more of what I want to do, leaving no time at all left for the stuff other people want me to do. It works out very well. |

Obviously make a list with priorities, and depending, enlist someone to help. |

Figure out a way to prioritize the list and go from there. |

I sometimes try to get the most difficult stuff over with first. Sometimes prioritize the list. |

I usually arrange my life so this never happens. But, I'm pretty good at just doing stuff when I need to. |

Prioritise - which in this situation would probably be things that have to get done, something someone is waiting for, then things I want to do. |

You just prioritize and multi-task where available - I do this at work all the time. You figure out what's most important, and do those in order. |

Something akin to work on priority lists and take a nap. I generally work on the least taxing things like internet correspondence first, until I get distracted enough to no longer be weary. |

I have 8 things to do. Probably only going to do half of them, though. |

Sounds like me. Way too much to do and no time. I get frozen and do nothing. Or go to the old house and take a nap when my wife thinks I'm working on things there. And now it's Halloween and I'm spending time I don't have putting up lights outside. Only have figured out how to use half of what I have at the new house. |

Prioritize.
For instance. My list usually involves mopping the floor where my incontinent and blind dog pees at night. I do that first every morning.
I really don't see how everything on my list can be of equal importance. |

"I really don't see how everything on my list can be of equal importance. "
I do.
Sure the budget needs calculated, but if I don't start working on making my moped, I might not vacation this summer either. Yeah the harmonica business has greater returns and investment, but setting up the tarot business can bring in revenue sooner if it works out. If I dont scrub those blinds soon, I'll spend another three months carrying them in and out of the bath tub. The pain in my neck has subsided, but it still might be killing me and warrants more internet research since the doctors couldn't figure it out.
I have top-20 priorities now, but even they were rather arbitrary decisions. People who work for others daily have a huge amount of decision making removed. I don't just choose how to go about my job, choose what my job is (and I have dozens of them underway to choose from). And I can't just what work on what's pressing, because none of it is immediately pressing, but if don't work on plenty of something my life will be in jeopardy. Just working on immediate needs and deadlines isn't sustaining.
I'd probably make that floor my priority too. |
