I can't eat out anymore but that's been going on for years. I've been spending less at garage sales I guess. |

I'm trying not to buy stuff I don't really need. I'm not in financial trouble, but I figure I should be frugal so I don't end up there. |

I don't need to cut my expenses. I should probably be spending more. |

I don't need to cut my expenses, but I have made an effort to do so. Being energy efficent in the home and less wasteful of food are the main two. |

I haven't felt like we needed to cut back recently. Several years ago we did some cutting back, though. And, we're still doing most of those things. I think we tend to be more frugal and focused on saving/investing than most people like us (age/income). We don't carry much debt (just mortgage), we don't spend more than we make. We don't eat out a lot. We buy/sell used stuff. I drive a car that's 16 years old and gets 45mpg. We work at home which saves on fuel costs. We have a budget. etc. |

I grew up in Canada with a mother who washed milk bags and hung them on the clothesline to use for our lunches and a father who would stop the car at somebody's garbage if he saw something he could use. And we weren't poor! My dad was a hospital administrator, my mom stayed home. They simply wouldn't buy anything if they could imagine something they already had would work. My dad made a pontoon boat out of plastic barrels and leftover lumber. My mom sewed most of our clothing. They exemplified how to live simply and with ingenuity. They died rich. I inherited and my folks would be aghast at how extravagantly I live. And with what little imagination. For me, it's all about convenience. I'm ashamed of myself, really. I'd very much like to change my complacency, consumerism, and conditioning to today's world. |

i haven't cut my expenses as of yet but we will over the next few months. we will cut back how we purchase groceries, which has always been we get whatever we want and now we will be more careful about prices and quantities. also we probably won't eat out as much and will cut back on entertainment costs. we both have fuel efficient cars and don't drive excessively now. We also both work in health care probably one of the areas where there are still positions that need filling and there is job availability. |

None! I was (/am) a tightwad from the getgo. Theres nowhere where I can cut back any more. I can thank grad school for that.
That that I am trying to sound like a complainer btw. I am glad I am at where I am right now, because at least I have a bit more freedom not being bogged down by a "real" full-time job and I get to actually work on interesting projects instead of doing boring drugge work IT people do once they hit the real world. |

I chopped off my legs so I don't have to buy pants anymore. Every little helps. |

I have been spending almost every penny I make on expenses as it is. I am not saving like I was earlier this year. Scumbag dog psycho liar thief renter took me for a few thousand. It hurt me bad. |

Well being on disability I have to watch my money and only buy the things I really need... |

I had to cut back on my road trips |

I schedule my errands in the most efficient car route possible to save gas.
My wife and I commute together, and we drive her car (mine's a Yukon) to the train station.
I don't eat as much steak as I used to; I eat a lot of boneless, skinless chicken breast. I miss my fudging steak.
There's other stuff; I'm just drawing a blank now.

I've tried to keep it pretty simple since long ago, and I haven't needed to cut expenses yet. |

I've quit buying bottled water, and other luxuries at the grocery store. I've also gotten a second job, but this is mainly to pay off my credit card. The main thing is my electric bill - it's ridiculously high. |

I stopped feeding my child.
It has been very effective. |

I started sniggering and it developed into a full-blown fit of laughter. Awesome. |

abandoned my house to let the bank have it back and now renting my son's bigger, nicer house for half the montly cost. My house is currently worth $175k but my mortgages total $440k. Not worth it.
Other than that life is as usual. My income doesn't go down, have a hard time figuring out how anyone's would unless they lose jobs and end up with lower pay. I generally get at least $6-7k raise every year.
I can get gas here now for $3.39 a gallon, but I do work at home a couple days a week to save money. Mmm, I only get haircuts once or twice a year so I guess I save that way. I cut it myself the rest of the time. And, I rarely buy clothes and rarely eat lunch.
On the other hand, all meals eaten at our house are bought from fast food or take-out so I guess that wastes money. |

Buy things second-hand, get items through freecycle, turn down the thermostat, dine out less often, dine out more cheaply, shop grocery store sales and stock up on staple foods, drive second-hand cars into the ground before buying another second-hand car, take movies/books out of the library, use discount passes whenever possible. |

I go out less. I've been thinking of cutting off my phone system, and using my cell phone only. I've been thinking of making my own bread. I'm cooking more with pot dishes, having left overs. Wash once a week. Showers every other day. Watering lawn less. We haven't cut back enough, I know. Plan driving routes. |
