| Matty | posted 30-Sep-2008 8:45am most of the popularized fiction is already in an easily transformed structure; I would say most of the fcition I have read easily could be converted effortlessly. |
| bill | posted 30-Sep-2008 9:06am too many to list; many have already been made into movies; most I assume not so good
Here's one that I think would make a good movie: Being Dead by Jim Crace |
| Melf | posted 30-Sep-2008 9:16am I'd say V For Vendetta, as the film version they did do was pretty horrendous. |
| moviesnob | posted 30-Sep-2008 10:13am A couple of Dean Koontz novels. "Intensity" was really good, and it was made into a made-for-TV-movie, but I think it could have done well as a theatrical movie. Also, The Good Husband, which I think is being made into a movie. |
| Joanne | posted 30-Sep-2008 10:54am I read a book called "The Blue Castle" as a kid and it completely enchanted me. It was an ugly duckling story - young unloved girl grows up expecting futile life, takes a chance to make a difference in dying woman's life - someone nobody else would help because the town had judged her as unworthy - proposes to first man to come along after woman dies. He surprisingly accepts, she moves in and eventually discovers his secret identity as the writer of the books that sustained her in her loneliness - oh, and he also lives simply but he's actually a reclusive millionaire, and the discovery of those things overwhelms her and she leaves him, only to have him follow her and they realize they're in love - two misfits who find unexpected happiness., It was really cool, had everything I needed - strong woman who doesn't know her strength, introspective characters who evolve from enduring life to enjoying it. Ahhh, time to read it again. |
| Galomorro | posted 30-Sep-2008 10:59am I wish that Stephen King's "It" would have been a full-length film when I rented it on Netflix. It was only partial and there was no part 2 available. There was supposed to be a lot more to it than there was. |
| Galomorro | (reply to moviesnob) posted 30-Sep-2008 11:02am O yeah! I LOVE Dean Koontz's stuff. Any of his and also anything by John Saul. |
| LindaH | posted 30-Sep-2008 11:05am Probably a few of my non-fiction ones. There are things I think more people should know about. Maybe more people would pay attention if it were made into a movie. |
| Frostbrand | posted 30-Sep-2008 1:25pm Playing For Keeps by Mur Lafferty. |
| Iseult | (reply to Melf) posted 30-Sep-2008 3:29pm Wow, you're the first person I hear that from. Most people I know worship that movie.
I thought it was all right. I can't see what the big fuss is. |
| ausfox | posted 30-Sep-2008 4:48pm It seems that whenever that happens to me, I find out that they are already making a movie out of it. They do it so much these days. |
| cerealkiller | posted 30-Sep-2008 6:39pm None. I haven't read any books lately, and, I never like movies made from anything I've read. The movies can't equal the human imagination. |
| they | posted 30-Sep-2008 10:32pm Movies usually fudge up books.
Two exceptions: The Shining and Rosemary's Baby. |
| llamamama | posted 30-Sep-2008 10:52pm All of them..and then I realize that 95% of books that were made into movies do not do the books justice. |
| Frostbrand | (reply to llamamama) posted 1-Oct-2008 12:15am > All of them..and then I realize that 95% of books
> that were made into movies do not do the books > justice. Short stories however tend to be weel suited for translation. Just look at movies like In The Bedroom. I've been toying with the idea of writing a screenplay of Elizabeth Bear's The Something-Dreaming Game (http://escapepod.org/2008/07/11/ep166-the-somethin...) but the fact is I don't like reading screenplays, so I imagine writing one would be a little tough. Plus the subject matter is not your typical Hollywood fare. |
| gambler | posted 1-Oct-2008 1:02pm The Lee Child novels ...... His protaganist is an ex-military MP called Jack Reacher, who wanders the country "Ronin" style righting wrongs etc |
| Cain | posted 1-Oct-2008 4:54pm Cell, by Stephen King. |
| Irene007 | posted 1-Oct-2008 6:20pm My life would make a good movie... Seriously - some real funny crap happened to us that you just can't make up... |
| llamamama | (reply to Frostbrand) posted 1-Oct-2008 7:29pm Yeah, writing stuff like that does seem tough. You should go for it though, that'd be really cool. I'm looking at it and it already seems interesting. |
| cloudhugger | posted 2-Oct-2008 8:42am The Illiod and the Odyssey.Maybe time for a remake. |
| JessicaWoman99 | posted 8-Oct-2008 7:42pm Cannot think of any |
| Pomeranian | posted 10-Oct-2008 4:26am Frostband's novel about flyers and teleporters. |
| soyring1 | posted 26-Oct-2008 2:14pm When i'm reading them i think they would... but nothing comes to mind right now |
| Otter | posted 18-Nov-2008 12:27pm I've written a few short stories that I think would make good movies. |
| LizELECTRIC | posted 19-Jan-2009 4:23am YOUTH IN REVOLT. if you haven't read it. You will love it. It's hilarious, interesting and witty. It got me through my boring spots in life.. ohhh and pure sunshine!!! its fantastic. |
| cprasky | posted 18-Mar-2009 9:43am Anyone here ever read "The Chronicles of Amber" by Roger Zelazny? I think the first five books from that would make a great movie. |
