| booker | posted 20-Mar-1998 12:23am I tend to dislike being asked to comment on information found on other sites, let's stick to things we can answer here |
| Dolemite | posted 20-Mar-1998 1:46am Eh? |
| KenShingo | posted 20-Mar-1998 4:19am I don't see why some chat rooms are using this. Some people ardently support it, but most of the opposers to it support GMT and don't see what's wrong with it in the first place. I don't see what's wrong with the real world. Do you? booker:I'll keep that in mind Dolemite:Uh? |
| bill | posted 20-Mar-1998 9:13am I don't understand why GMT is not sufficient. |
| fiore | posted 20-Mar-1998 9:25am Time is a constant. |
| Atzilut | posted 20-Mar-1998 1:35pm clocks don't measure time, they just measure other clocks. Fiore: time is not a constant. but, for the purposes of this, UT-1 or astronomical time should be sufficient. (I *think* UT-1 is isochronous with GMT, not sure) |
| Timmi | posted 20-Mar-1998 4:28pm I care very much about time, but I think MUDs are a useless idea. |
| dab | posted 20-Mar-1998 8:12pm I'm missing how this is an improvement over GMT. |
| Jaime | posted 23-Mar-1998 7:24am If it's GMT-2 why not call it GMT-2? (I hate the word "VIRTUAL"). |
| zoomie | posted 31-Mar-1998 11:27pm It's not a bad idea, but it still involves numbers, so I'm still confused. |
| seth | posted 20-Apr-1998 10:16pm Using one time zone can be a good thing, but why GMT-2? Just to make it equally inconvenient for everyone? |
| nbarone | posted 5-May-1998 11:09pm sometimes the world just baffles me |
| daver | posted 14-May-1998 2:11pm Stupid idea. UTC (Coordinated Universal Time, based off of GMT) already exists. Why go out of your way to create a new standard (and some new confusion) when there's nothing wrong with the old one? |
| phi | posted 17-Jun-1998 11:45pm What's wrong with GMT anyway? It lines up well with peak usage hours (0000-1200 GMT) on the (international) MUDs I frequent, and it causes the least confusion about what day it is since it's no further than 12 hours off from anyone on the planet. |
| reality | posted 7-Jul-1998 3:14pm it seems pretty useless to do this. you can simply do the math if you know what time zone you are in vs what time zone the chat or mud is in. |
