At least twice a week. |

I have not been to church in a long while. I haven't found a church that really teaches the "meat" of the Word. I want to know the truth, not some sweet, warm and fuzzy, huggy/kissy milk. I do study with one pastor on TV, and have heard another one that teaches the "meat" too. I read and study on my own too. I wish I could find a good solid church close by. I miss being with people who have the faith. |

"sweet, warm and fuzzy, huggy/kissy milk" has a kind of ring to it. |

May i ask you kindly Jean is it really all that important to really get into it the meat of the word because how do we not know if we are being misled down the wrong path , sure I just love to study the word of God and attend Church every Sunday for prayer and worship and without people jumping up and down and screaming" Yes in my own special Episcopal way we worship and "praise" the Lord and of course we do have worship music plus the very fact i was baptized into the Episcopal Church as a baby and brought up in the Episcopal Church and here I am 50 years later still
going to the Episcopal Church and I do hear the voice of God and can feel his presence as well yes in a very unique and special way do i serve God.
I do love the Catholic Church and the new Pope he is good. |

I went to Catholic mass every Sunday until I was about 19 or so... when I left home for college, I stopped.
I've gone back for weddings and some random other events (niece's first communion?), very occasionally. |

Every other weekend because my mother works.
If we don't go, we get in trouble. I don't mind it though because I know I need to go and it's only twice a month..That and I'm not 8.. |

I understand. I didn't mean to be disrespectful of churches that do teach the milk, it's just I want to know more, and more. I was raised in the Nazarene church until about 10 years. I then started going to a Baptist church, and was Baptized at age 12 years. I stopped going in my teens. After I married I only attended a few times, I guess because he didn't want to go. I know this is a poor excuse. I did send my children when they were young. I'm ashamed I didn't go with them, and I didn't do more.
God Bless Jessica |

I wasn't really trying to ignore or make light of LJD's post. I just liked the way the words sounded. |

Why on earth would I want to go to a church?
I'll go when necessary, for a wedding or funeral. And there are a few churches around whose architecture is worth admiring. But generally, bleaaah. What a waste of time. |
Enheduanna | | posted 23-Aug-2008 9:10am |
Never. I've gone to church sometimes with friends in the past, but not since high school. I guess occasionally I go to a wedding in a church, but it's been a while since I did that, too. |

Fortunatly almost never. We used to a while back ago but sort of stopped. |

If God wanted us to attend church, he/she wouldn't have made human beings need sleep. |

They have really nice toilet paper. |

I used to go about every Sunday but recently I've been bad about that........... Now I'll usually just stay home and read the Bible for about an hour........ |
| aquawolfy | | (reply to LJD) posted 23-Aug-2008 3:46pm |
I know how you feel..... I think it's about time for me to find a new church... |
| aquawolfy |
If human beings didn't sleep we'd probably be worse off. Most would do worthless things like watching the crap on TV or getting drunk..... |
LJD | | (reply to aquawolfy) posted 23-Aug-2008 11:36pm |
I wish you the best Aquawolfy in finding a solid church, where you can learn the truth, the meat of the Word. God Bless! |
southernyankee | | (reply to aquawolfy) posted 24-Aug-2008 1:24am |
Good point. Some evolutionaists argue that sleep evolved to keep us from doing stupid things, like run around the dark. But still, the fact that we NEED sleep, whatever the reason, ought to negate the idea of wasting an hour in a place called "church" when you can sleep later.
Yes yes, I know what you might be thinking, why not make church start a bit later. Well, you can, but then mass might run past Sunday kickoff. And do we REALLY want that? |

indeed...they also have really nice "papers" for when you run out,(still fond on Randy's through). in fact there are books upon books of them! |

I agree! After civilization falls and all the Cottenelle is gone, I'm heading up to the local church to strip the pages out.
((I just got done reading a couple books about this)) |

Other than weddings, or deaths I do not go. The last time I went was about 20 years ago, the priest was up front ranting and doging about people who only go to church 3 times a year. Christmas, Ash Wednesday and Easter. We figured he was talking about us so I said fudge it let's go. Silly stupid bastard. |
