How often are you greeted by strangers in a friendly manner while walking around in public?

How often are you looked in the eye by a stranger in passing, and greeted with a "hello" or a smile? These would be people you never saw before and will probably never see again. A few examples would be at a fair, or a shopping mall, traveling through a different city.

Very often. Every time I go out, people frequently smile and or say hi. I love this survey btw.

Sometimes - especially while on trails in parks. I'm friendlier in a park. Sometimes women don't want to make eye contact with ME -- ya know, alone on a trail with no one else around. Sometimes people have dogs and that's a sort of icebreaker cuz the dogs come up to you.

Almost all of the time. It actually startles me sometimes, and it doesn't matter what kind of a mood I'm in, where I'm at or who I am with. In fact, some of the friends I am out with think it is odd.

The fact that strangers look me in the eye for one. All ages, kids, oldies...and they smile and say hello. This just started with me about 5 years ago. Before I would try to instigate hellos or smiles and sometimes I even got dirty looks, but all of a sudden I'm getting acknowledgement everywhere I go.

With me, it seems the opposite. I used to be really quiet, almost uncomfortable when strangers made small talk. Now I chat with strangers all the time, and when someone doesn't respond, I wonder if I'm making them uncomfortable.

It happens here in Waterloo. When I'm walking in my neighborhood or by old people. I never got greeted by strangers when I lived in Toronto, and when I did it was usually by dirty guys.

Sometimes - I must often come across as quite rude, because people say hello in a friendly way and I just gawp at them - I don't mean to seem standoffish, but usually I'm walking about in my own little world and a hello shocks me out of it.

It happens a lot... and I'm the factor that determines if it happens.

A lot of times, I feel withdrawn and I don't make much eye contact in public. When this is the case, no one makes contact with me. If I'm looking up, people make eye contact and smile at me all the time.

i never noticed the humidity and my hair until as of lately. my hair has changed texture a bit of the past few years, a LOT of silver...refuse to call it gray for gray doesn't sparkle*wink* anyway, it's the silver that has a mind of it's own and becomes a bit unruly.
i'm sick of sweating too! holy crap. i've forgotten what it's like...to get out of the shower and be all nice and dry, but by the time you get to the other room, you're all covered in droplets again, like you never even bathed, or even dried off...blech. did not miss that at all.
