Specifically Brooklyn? Not many out-of-towners could spot a Brooklyn versus Queens versus Jersey accent.

I dunno -- I have never been to New York. I just enjoy hearing a certain accent in certain films -- some being Streisand of whom I'm kind of a fan. So I really have just heard the name "Brooklyn" and do not know the difference at all between Queens, Brooklyn, and a Jersey accent. Thanks for enlightening me. Then I suppose the accent is similar in this whole region? |

I'm not sure how to word it. |

Pretty much anything but New York, Boston, eastern European/Russian, and most Asian accents. |

The British accent is cool |

To me, they are not that similar. Plus, most actors in the movies or on television completely fudge it up. The accents they offer sound like people trying to sound like New Yorkers. There is an HBO TV show that I have DVD copies of...Entourage. It's about 4 kids from Queens. The main protagonist is an actor who made it big and took his friends from the neighborhood along for the ride. His name is Vince. Vince and his best friend, "E," have very pronounced Manhattan accents. Vince's other friend, Turtle, is right out of "Sean and Patty's" in Brooklyn. Finally, Vince's brother, "Johnny Drama" is more Jersey than Bruce Springsteen. If you ever catch the show, listen for the nuances. Eventually you'll hear the differences. |

What kind of accent when speaking what language?
With English, I generally like nice standard North American (nothing too regional, no drawl, nothing nasal, no enounciated Rs). With British English, I prefer the recieved pronounciation. I also like most kinds of Irish, especially when Colin Farrell speaks it.
Nicest accent I ever heard was with this Chinese guy from Hong Kong who spoke proper British English with a slight Chinese accent. |

I have a friend from Korea who speaks English with a slight American accent because of watching American films and TV. It's a really lovely accent. |

Manchester, Bristol, Yorkshire, Highlands.
I find Birmingham, Liverpool, Glasgow and Irish accents unattractive.
On a global scale, I like New Zealand, South Africa, Scandinavian, Jamaica and Hawaii for the accents.
Dislike French, Italian and thick New York accents. |

I'm not sure. There was one I heard the other day...oh yeah, South Africa is quite appealing. |

Chicago (south side) always puts a smile on my face. It isn't attractive per se but it has it's own charm. |

In my own country, there's something endearing about the Cornish accent. I'd find it attractive on some homegrown farm girl. Do those still exist?
I generally don't like the Geordie and Brummie accents. The Blackley accent near me is horrible. |

Ayy, that's me you're talking about. I'm a Chicago south side native. My wife grew up in Laport, Indiana and then lived in the Lincoln Park area in Chicago. She doesn't like my south side accent that comes out at times.

My friends find it intimidating. I'm usually fired up about something when it comes out the most. |

all kinda....although i must admit, after being gone for a while, then coming back... the midwestern-Fargo accent is pretty thick and not all that attractive. Humorous, yes which makes it attractive, but not hawt. |
