I do not have any co workers at this time. My previous job...well, I'll just say we were union and the union protected those that sucked at their job.

some are and some aren't, most aren't. like almost any workplace there is a bell curve or work ethic and ability.................... we don't seem to get rid of those who can't though.

When I worked at an acute hospital, I saw a lot of slackers. I always felt you owed your employer a good days work, being responsible. When I left I was told by a nurse, she wished there were more people like me, that had a good work ethic.

I once was called back by this company, after retiring from it. I was asked to be the receptionist for two weeks, for the vacationing receptionist. I said ok. I went back and within a short time, all the salesmen were bringing me work, that I wasn't supposed to do. I started doing the work, but it became difficult for me to do the typing jobs, and my receptionist job. They were bringing me work that was supposed to go to the girl that took my former position. I used to be a teletype operator, and typist for 13 salesmen. Some of the salesmen told me, that they were sorry to have to bring their work to me, but because the girl that was supposed to do the work, said she could not, would not have more than one project on her desk. One of the salesmen showed me her desk. There was nothing on the desk, but one paper. I almost fell through the floor. Thank God, I did not have more than a vacation fill in on this job. I think I would have had something to say to the girl...I didn't. I felt it was the boss who should have said something. Evidently, it was going on for a long while. The girl should have been released. I did her job, plus...there was no excuse for the girl's behavior.

Not employed but mine were the coworkers from hell. Some weren't actually lazy, in fact they were just committed to sitting there and doing long hours of overtime, barely moving from their seats. But some could yak endlessly and would play their radios loudly in the office.

Not most of them.

I only know the American ones though. I'm not sure about the outsourced, Indian ones. I know they make a lot of mistakes... but I think it's just because they are new.

I only have one co-worker, and he is neaither lazy nor incompetent. Unfortunately he does tend to let his ideas run away with him, has a hard time saying no and can be disorganised.

Jean it sounds like the boss was slacking off instead and yes the boss he/she they should lose their jobs instead
of this girl and even thou she was incompetent and you doing all her work it should fall on the boss?

I believe it was a combination of things. Perhaps the salesmen did not complain to the boss. I know the guys complained to me, because they knew me, but being the nice guys they were, possibly didn't want to be the "bad guys" and possibly get the girl fired. My being asked back to the receptionist job, happened within a month of my leaving the first time. The girl was a fairly new hire, perhaps the guys felt she needed time to adjust?? I do know it really perturbed me, her not doing her job efficiently, or at least trying. I watched her behavior, she was around the office socializing, while she should be back at her desk doing the work she was hired for.

Thank you. I often wonder, if the reason they asked me back was because they knew I'd help the girl?? After I left, I have no idea if they kept the girl or not.
