That sounds handy for people who are far away from home and just need a place to rest. I don't like the idea of people being checked up on though. I find that a little weird. |
| Pomeranian | | posted 22-Jul-2008 10:22pm |
what's the rationale behind limiting visits to under an hour? |
dab | | posted 22-Jul-2008 10:50pm |
My thought is that I'm not interested. |
Galomorro | | posted 22-Jul-2008 11:16pm |
Don't like it. How could anyone sleep if employees are walking around checking on people, and other people are so close by. Why would anyone want to do this anyway? |
kcthedog | | posted 22-Jul-2008 11:17pm |
Stupid! |
LindaH |
Because it's not a hotel, or a place for full-night sleep. It's for daytime napping. |
LJD | | posted 22-Jul-2008 11:49pm |
I suppose it would serve a purpose for some people. |
LindaH | | (reply to Galomorro) posted 23-Jul-2008 12:28am |
So they can nap without going home |
| Pomeranian | | (reply to LindaH) posted 23-Jul-2008 1:45am |
ok but, one hour? To my mind a nap is at least two, ideally three. just saying. |
| Pomeranian | | (reply to LJD) posted 23-Jul-2008 1:45am |
FOR SATAN'S PEOPLE |
LindaH |
Maybe. I was thinking of adding some time on there. |
LJD |
Just as some countries, have siestas, perhaps this place would be a momentary, safe place for someone in an urban area to nap?? |
| Pomeranian | | (reply to LJD) posted 23-Jul-2008 2:45am |
wow LJD, I am impressed this is the closest I have seen you to making a joke here! *hug* |

Nah. |
| ausfox | | posted 23-Jul-2008 5:42am |
Yes, I wouldn't be interested in this at all. I don't like napping and wouldn't want to go to somewhere public like that |
Matty | | posted 23-Jul-2008 8:04am |
This doesn't seem all that different than a Japanese hotel for business men. |
bill | | posted 23-Jul-2008 8:49am |
My wife and I sometimes refer to a mythical places called the "Naparium".
I saw something just like this on a recent epsiode of Penn & Teller Bullcrap.
Ah yes, here it is: http://www.metronaps.com/ |
Galomorro | | (reply to LindaH) posted 23-Jul-2008 11:31am |
Oh. A friend of mine works in an office where they let them go into a break room and lie down/nap when they need to - he's someone who can nap during the daytime too. Me, I can only see napping at home, on the beach, or lying on the grass in a park in the sunshine... but I can't nap during the daytime unless I'm drunk -- or on a bus, which seems to just rock me to sleep as it bumps along. |
Enheduanna | | posted 23-Jul-2008 11:57am |
I think that sounds like a fun idea, although making sure the beds were kept clean so that lice and bed bugs and things weren't spread around might be a challenge. I love taking naps, and although this sounds appealing to me on some level, if I really wanted a nap I would just go home and take one. Although if there were a nap room where I worked I would probably use it. So maybe having more offices and places of employment have nap rooms would be a better option. |
Melf |
One part of me always thinks, for a moment, 'aww bed bugs' and I imagine them to be like ladybirds but just really sleepy and they flap about and they're all docile; and the other part's like 'NOOO!'
 |
LindaH | | (reply to Galomorro) posted 23-Jul-2008 12:47pm |
I've sometimes wished there was a safe, monitored place to nap during the say, away from home. |
LindaH | | (reply to bill) posted 23-Jul-2008 12:50pm |
"MetroNaps assesses the fatigue level of your employees" If only there was some device to assess how sleepy you are. |
LJD |
Pomeranian... *hugs* to you.
However, I think it is no joke that people have to be stacked upon one another to live, to create the scenario given. It goes against nature. I am against urbanization. People need breathing room. The world elitists, the one worlders are orchestrating the populations of the world, to cause racial, cultural chaos, easier to control. We are not robots, without feelings. We deserve to live in peace. |
Enheduanna | | (reply to Melf) posted 23-Jul-2008 1:55pm |
Eeeew!
I lived in Israel for a few months when I was younger. I was a student, and the dorm I lived in for the first month or so had bedbugs. Icky. Fortunately we moved to nicer dorms after that. |
moviesnob | | posted 23-Jul-2008 3:08pm |
I think there was a place like this in the Mall of America called MinneNAPolis. I always thought it was a neat idea, but I remember hearing a new report about the place shutting down. I would use this at my place of work (office atmosphere), for a nap on my lunch break. |
| Pomeranian | | (reply to LJD) posted 23-Jul-2008 3:08pm |
It seems to me that, in a small way, the business that is being described here would lessen the impact of urbanization; I didn't get the impression that people would be stacked or crammed together in the nap-room. |
Melf |
Eugh... not nice. |
LJD |
What I meant was urbanization is not fair....cramming people together. I would assume, the need for a "nap room" would only be needed in the big city.
I guess I'm just a country girl at heart. |
LindaH | | (reply to LJD) posted 23-Jul-2008 5:08pm |
it would be needed anywhere where people get groggy during the day, and don't have time to go home |
| Cain | | posted 23-Jul-2008 5:24pm |
So presumably you'll be charging people to use this facility? How much? To justify the rent and mintenance of the building, electricity, paying the employees, etc - the cost for less than an hour's sleep would have to be pretty high. |
LJD | | (reply to LindaH) posted 23-Jul-2008 5:44pm |
Personally, I'm sometimes rejuvenated after a short nap....perhaps it would serve a purpose....perhaps at an airport? A big shopping mall? What did you have in mind? |
LindaH | | (reply to LJD) posted 23-Jul-2008 5:48pm |
Anywhere at all. Sometimes I get drowsy during the day. It would be nice to have a convenient place to just plop down and take a nap, without worrying about getting pick-pocketed, spat on, worried people seeing if you are okay, etc. They could be bigger places, for dense areas, or little tanning booth sized places. |
Melf | | (reply to LJD) posted 23-Jul-2008 6:59pm |
I like the idea of them being at an airport. That could help you get over jet lag. |
Galomorro | | (reply to LindaH) posted 23-Jul-2008 8:16pm |
I probably don't understand this very well cuz I never go more than a few miles from home. |
JessicaWoman99 | | posted 23-Jul-2008 11:56pm |
I am against this idea because it should be women only no men allowed |

That's not a sexist statement! |
LJD | | (reply to LindaH) posted 24-Jul-2008 2:00am |
I believe there may be a place for such services, as a napping place. |
LJD | | (reply to Melf) posted 24-Jul-2008 2:05am |
Yes, an airport would be an ideal place for such a "napping" service. For those that have layovers. |
| starrpickle | | posted 24-Jul-2008 11:26am |
is this really needed? |
LindaH | | (reply to LJD) posted 24-Jul-2008 1:04pm |
I think so, too, if there's enough people that get groggy during the day and need naps. |

Well I would be afraid of some man raping me if i ever stayed in one of these in the middle of the night so it is a very
bad idea to have men and women together |
kcthedog |
Men and women were ment to be together that is why he/she (God) put a plug on one and a socket on the other
|

Well yes the other way around it is meant to be and only if he was so darn handsome he could sleep with me
anytime baby oh yea! come and plug me in "giggles" |
| docgbrown | | posted 25-Jul-2008 6:33am |
Whatever. Why under and hour when one REM cycle is about 90 minutes? |
LindaH | | (reply to docgbrown) posted 25-Jul-2008 11:41am |
I should have added time there. I was thinking of it. |

Perhaps next survey |
southernyankee | | posted 26-Jul-2008 12:49pm |
Sounds like a very crappy business idea. |
southernyankee | | posted 26-Jul-2008 12:50pm |
Besides. They already have this thing called the "motel". Perhaps you've heard of it. |
LindaH |
Motels don't have tons of people in the same room. Motels are for the whole night, and everyone gets their own room. This would be MUCH cheaper, and meant for daytime napping. |
southernyankee | | (reply to LindaH) posted 26-Jul-2008 3:18pm |
Then why not nap on the bench like the homeless do. The bench is free. |
LindaH |
Maybe you don't want to loiter, or be vulnerable to pick-pockets. Or maybe you want to be considerate. |
| Gomezy3k | | posted 27-Jul-2008 2:27pm |
The idea is a good one but would want individual sound proof rooms... I do not want to try and nap with other people snoring, farting and making noises... I need total silence and darkness, not to mention ice cold... Kind of like a crypt.... |
LindaH |
I guess there's always these:
 |
cloudhugger | | posted 3-Aug-2008 12:33pm |
Creepy.
I would prefer single little rooms. Have youever seen the chinese version of a Holiday Inn? They look somewhat like vaults. Single beds several layers high that contain a bed. They are individual, clean and private. There is a door that closes. |
cerealkiller | | posted 13-Aug-2008 7:17pm |
Why would there be a need? And only an hour? |
| justjulie | | posted 16-Aug-2008 9:05am |
weird |
LindaH |
catnaps. Some people get too groggy to continue their day, need to plop down for a bit. |
