Do you really mean it?

Often people will make the following statements/remarks in various social situations to acquaintances, family etc (we have all heard them or said them) but are you being genuinely sincere?

" I will call you, we'll do lunch"
"If you need help with (blank) call me"
"Lets get together soon!"
"You can come and stay with me/us when your next in town"
etc, etc

This is situational; sometimes I mean it, and sometimes it's just out of politeness.

I only offer to help someone if they need it, and I am sincere. I don't make the other statements.

I don't say things like that very often. When I do say it, I mostly mean it, though there's always a cynical cloud of doubt hanging over it. But, that cloud hangs over everything.

I don't make statements like this, period. Unless I really mean it when I offer to HELP a friend with something (the second one) -- but not to someone I don't know well.

I only make these statements when I mean them. I feel the need to follow through when I say I will do something, so I wouldn't idly say something like this if I didn't mean it. However, if someone says one of these things to me when I don't actually want to see/call/eat with them, I will still often say "Sure" or something, just to be polite. It would be terribly rude to say, "No, please don't call me, I never want to have lunch with you," especially because these statements are often so vague or general and are easy to just forget about.

I try not to say things that I don't mean... I do once in a while make a mistake and say something like this when I don't mean it, but in general if I say it I mean it. Which sometimes confuses people.

I would never make a statement like this

When I say stuff like that I always mean it. There are far better ways to lie.
Now one of my friends on the other hand..always tells me she'll call back. She never does. Ever. It's like, stop lying to yourself and just tell me you won't call back.

No, I don't do that. People have said stuff like that to me and I really thought they meant it but I never hear from them.

I do make these statements, sometimes I mean them, sometimes I don't. However, if I've said it, I would never go back on my word.

I can't stand meaningless courtesy words and phrases. They serve no purpose. I'd only say something like this if I mean it.

Only when I mean it, and I do say them. They do not often become a reality, I am not sure why. I don't stalk people once I have mde the statements, I just htink the other people don't think I mean it.
I don't like to beg, but this survey will be interesting. I believe many say wwhat they do not mean, hence when someone dows one pays attention anymore...shame.

I almost always mean it. Whether or not it happens is a different story, but if I say it I usually would be happy to follow up.
