Um no.
Do you think it's completely insane to think that? |

No, of course not.

I do think it's completely insane to think it's rude to say "You're Welcome". This survey was inspired by a post on Shreveport Rants and Raves (Craigslist) when someone said it "chaps her ass". I called her petty. |

That lady is a psycho. I work in customer service, have had training on phone etiquette, tone, conversational responses, etc..... "You're welcome" is perfectly fine... as in... "You are quite welcome to any help I can give you." It could also mean "No need to thank me - I gave you something you are entitled to".... I can't think of a meaning that would be negative in any way. |

What!?
I think I would rather hear the story behind this question. |
Lahdee | | (reply to they) posted 20-Jul-2008 10:53am |
I really think she must be one of those people who demand or expect appreciation and recognition and probably is very control freakish. I think it's an insecurity thing.
She tried to explain and made herself sound more ridiculous. She thinks anyone who provides a service should thank the customer (for choosing them!) and if they don't thank, they must be ungrateful. Can you believe that? Sounds very narcissistic, to me. |

My sister-in-law once went off on a McD's cashier because the bathrooms were out of order and her son had to pee. Yeah they train the lady ringing up your burger how to fix the plumbing. uh huh. |

At http://www.customerssuck.com, they call them "entitlement whores".
I think it's fitting.... and I deal with those types of jackasses on a daily basis. |

No. It's all just automatic, polite small talk. Who cares? |
Melf | | posted 20-Jul-2008 12:27pm |
Why would it be? |
romkey | | posted 20-Jul-2008 12:35pm |
For myself, I don't care. I would think most people would think that it was rude not to say "you're welcome". |

Not at all. |

also what's on others mind might make it to where they don't think sometimes. |

no. they may have alot of duties they have to accomplish before they go home for the day. they may normally say what you are trying to hear but sometimes it doesn't happen. then again you at least recieved a positive departing reply. also what's on others mind might make it to where they don't think sometimes. |

No?..........I dont get why this would even be considered rude, or am I missing something?.. In my business place I say it all the time? |
| JessicaWoman99 | | posted 20-Jul-2008 10:34pm |
No it is not rude or just slap them in the face |
| penguin388 | | posted 20-Jul-2008 10:38pm |
No, how could it be rude? Unless the "TY" was said in a snotty or condescending tone and you are retaliating with the "ur welcome" the same way. |
| Pomeranian | | posted 21-Jul-2008 3:07am |
omg. nope. |
Matty | | posted 21-Jul-2008 8:02am |
How would this be considered rude? |
moviesnob | | posted 21-Jul-2008 3:32pm |
When customers thank me, I usually say "No problem" or "That's why I'm here" or something like that. I've never used "You're welcome" in that context. While I don't feel it's rude, I don't feel it's appropriate in that situation. |
| Danger | | posted 22-Jul-2008 3:06pm |
I don't think it's rude, but I think a "no problem" or a "thank you" would be more appropriate. |
Iseult | | posted 24-Jul-2008 5:37pm |
No. |
| jindalmeenakshi9 |
the response is appropriate !! |
| laurenk1 |
There are still being polite by saying you're welcome...they have nothing to thank me for |
| JohnCD |
No, of course not. How could anyone consider this being rude? |
| justjulie | | posted 16-Aug-2008 3:41pm |
no...not at all.
in fact i would prolly respond w/ "Your welcome and thank you!" |
| HMC35 |
I've never really thought about it. I don't say "You're welcome" though, I always say "Thank you" right back. Makes more sense, anyway. |
IamJohn | | posted 27-Oct-2008 12:38pm |
Not in the slightest, "You're welcome" seems like the more appropriate response. |
