No, it shouldn't be censored. Half the time one can't understand the words anyway |

No, it should not be censored. No art should ever be censored. That goes for the written word, paintings, music, sculpture, photography (with rare exceptions). Everyone has the right to say whatever they want in art, short of libel/slander. The burden of offense (of sensitivities) in all areas of life lies with people who are offended, not with the people who are doing the offending. |

No, they should be able to sing whatever they want, but people have the right not to listen to it, and radio stations have the right not to play it. |

I don't think anything should be censored.
If you don't like it, don't buy it.
If you don't want your kids getting into it, then pay attention and remain involved in what they're doing. |

TRICK question....
Do you think music should be censored?
NO
Do you think that singers should not have the right to say what they want in their singing?
NO
Should they be allowed to cuss, talk about pain, sexuality, etc?
YES |

Yes..but then you put that wonderful little sticker on your CD../MP3..in which case it wouldn't be a sticker.
That's a better alternative to having the rap music where everything is bleeped..and so instead what you end up listening to is a Weather Emergency test. Not fun. |

No,why the poor rating? |
| Cain | | posted 19-Jul-2008 3:27pm |
No - nobody is being forced to listen it. |

Probably because the explanation contains a question that asks the opposite. |
Psychologo | | posted 19-Jul-2008 4:36pm |

The fudge.
Only if it's being played pre-Watershed and has swearing in it.
Racism shouldn't be advertised (wrong word, I'm drunk) just like it shouldn't be on television.
Same with homophobia and hwhatnot. |
dab | | posted 19-Jul-2008 7:38pm |
If you asked most people who want to censor music if music should be censored, they'd answer "no". They don't think what they're doing is censorship. |

Matty | | posted 21-Jul-2008 8:15am |
I already do some minor censorship. We don't have TV, and I preview any music my daughter may want to hear.
However, this survey doesn't seem to capture the issue. This right is already guaranteed by the First Ammendment. You can say whatever you wnat without fear of any criminl action against you, unless it poses an immediate danger to others.
I think the survey creator was asking if it's acceptable to play potentially offensive music on the radio, post it on the internet, or otherwise mass-market it.
In this case, I would say yes, it's acceptable, provided the listener has been warned. |

Music need not be censored, but people should be able to "filter out" those songs they might find offensive. This could be by putting explicit songs on specific radio channels or video channels at certain times, or the like. I find I'm embarassed to hear explicit songs whether my kids are around or not. |

Sweetie (the small, female one) and Pekoe (larger male) are from the same litter. 9 years old, perhaps, we've lost count. Pekoe was the author of that comment. He's fond of walking across the keyboard of my laptop. |

Bengals are gorgeous. I like the shots of Pekoe walking in the snow. Very jungle-like, his expression is.
So are the views around your home. Stunning! |

No, but t-shirts should be censored. Saw a guy in the grocery store last night with the front of his shirt in big letters "New York Fudgein' City" . Not appropriate with children in the store. |

Yes, I hate thier music but defend the right to it |
Iseult | | posted 25-Jul-2008 8:35pm |
Of course not. If you want things censored, go and live in North Korea. Or China.
On the other hand, it's tough question. Kind of like free speech. Sure, every other butt-hole has right to say any crap what they want, but there are just subject I do not want to hear about (e.g. body mutilation). |
| southernyankee | | posted 26-Jul-2008 1:10pm |
Not anymore than everything else. Off course define censorship. A rating system isn't really censorship. Nor MTV / radio stations not wanting to play you, as they OWN their airtime. |
JessicaWoman99 | | posted 31-Jul-2008 1:27am |
Rap music where they sing about suicide yes Rap should be censored |
| justjulie | | posted 17-Aug-2008 7:26am |
no....we as a whole censor ourselves far too often on an everyday basis. as the job of an artisian, one should be allowed to create freely, otherwise...what is even the point? |
