They should be allowed to become legal. Before or after coming here, makes no difference, as long as they are legal before getting jobs. They shouldn't be allowed to get a job here (or benefits!) until they are legal residents/citizens. But they should still be allowed to reside with friends/relatives and mooch off them, if that's what they want to do. |

They enrich my state with their culture, talents and hard work. They should be allowed to apply for permanent residence and it should be made easier for them. They're willing to take jobs that others do not want so there is a legitimate place for them. |

It appears that we have a need for them. I think we should try to find a way to legalize it. But, I have no first hand experience with the social side-effects. |

My goodness, if they made it all the way here, I'd probably throw them a party. A secret party so they wouldn't be discovered..but wow..I would be so impressed.
Now, because my country and my state are two very different things..I think that if they sneak over here they should be allowed to apply to be a citizen within a certain amount of time, if not they're gone. They obviously help our country..but they should be legal. So I don't think they should get any benefits of being a citizen until they've actually started to become one. The benefits and the crappy stuff. |

I think people who oppose illegal immigration are deeply ignorant of how illegal immigrants contribute to our economy. We would be screwed if every illegal up and left. I also hate the xenophobic sentiment that often accompanies anti-illegal-immigrant rantings, as though the US wasn't created and sustained by immigrants. |

I think the United States needs to close off the borders and stop allowing immigrants to come here, then round up everyone who's here illegally and deport them. |

Depends on the factors involved. I obviously am going to have more sympathy for poltical prisoners escaping persecution than for a drunk who crossed the border by accident. |

Im sorry i guess that the immigrants should have ask the americans if they could work fruit picking before they took that job from them, to think of all the americans that now cant get exciting jobs in fruit labor now.

I resent illegals coming into this country. They are invaders. We can't take in the world.
Only 2% of those illegals coming into this country work in the agricultural fields. The rest are taking American's jobs. They are a burden to this country, utilizing benefits paid by legal Americans. I resent our government allowing this to happen. The illegals cost us $338 billion a year.
Don't kid yourself Americans can and will do the jobs the illegals do. The evil elitists have set the stage for what is happening.

It's unfortunate, however, how so much of the Christian right forgot to read the Old testament about aliens/immigrants. It's equally unfortunate how much of the left chooses to bury their heads in the sand and disregard many practical difficulties of mass illegal immigration...Yet another issue where politics take precedence over real governance. |

My beef with illegal immigrants is he same as my beef with the people who are national citizens and unemployed through choice (laziness).
I say be welcome in our country, I appreciate your culture and the way in which it makes the country more diverse and interesting. But don't get expect to get something for nothing. If you're going to be here, and you're not financially comfortable off your own back, then you have to work.
But like I say, that goes for everyone in the country, I can't stand people leeching off the system. |

I don't think we have a huge problem with illegal immigrants in the UK - probably because legal immigration is a lot easier (people from the whole EU have a right to apply for jobs here). That doesn't seem to be the attitude of certain sections of the media though - anyone would think that illegal immigrants were in danger of outnumbering everyone else, the way some tabloids go on about it. |

If they work hard. There are some nasty boys here that bus tables. They make snide remarks and giggle and point at some of the people that dine at the restaurants. They are rude to the waitresses and they know they can get away with it.
Why can they not just be legal and be down with it? |
