For some things, I get into it, buy it, use it, love it, preach it.... but, for most other things I think it's crap and refuse to get into it or even understand it. Honestly, I can barely understand how to use a cell phone. |

And most cell phones are barely worth using. |

I wouldn't know! |

I use mine to take pictures more often than using it to have a conversation. It's fun taking pictures when no one knows you are taking a picture... |

No, not at all. I know very little and how I find out about a good product -- usually regarding my Mac -- is from a friend who is more computer-savvy than I. Much of it I care little or nothing about, especially when it comes to cars or cell phones. |

I'm still waiting for my cell phone. We get the kitchen and bathrooms renovated and we can't even get a cell phone? *rant* |

Somewhat.
I have a lot of that stuff.
But. I. fudging. hate. my. phone.
First, the clock sometimes randomly started disappearing from the main display. Sometimes it's there, sometimes it isn't. So I fiddle with some options. Make every adjustment known to man. Now the clock only shows on the mini display if I open the phone and shut it and wait a few seconds. It's the only time I can ever see the clock. Instead of the digital clock on the main display... all I see is "...".
Probably my curse for doing ... ... all the damn time... |

My clock does the same thing! Is yours a nokia? |
LindaH | | posted 27-Jun-2008 12:36am |
Oh.. and there's my mp3 player. It doesnt organize the songs right. You have to set it up with some special tag thing, so it can arrange the songs by artist and album. half my songs are arranged right, and half are in the 'unknown' category.
I'm glad I have beer. |

My clock is showing up right now. I wonder why it has a mind of its own like that.
I like mine, though. I can subtly take pictures with it. It's addicting. I should have snapped one of this guy in the store today. Yummmm.... *sorry* |
LindaH | | (reply to they) posted 27-Jun-2008 12:52am |
Mine isn't exactly like that. Similar in some ways, though |

I've been using a crappy little Nokia recently... I had an iPhone and sold it (they're selling really well on ebay right now, the new model isn't out yet and you can't get the old one, so I can get the new one and profit on my old phone's sale) a little too early... the iPhone is fantastic, but the Nokia is just awful.
Starting with unlocking the keypad. You press the middle button, then you press *... but most of the time you (and by "you" I mean "I") can't press * fast enough and it restarts the whole process. It makes me appreciate the design of the iPhone even more than I already did. |

We would be much more likely to look at Iphones if we could stay with our same phone company.... Cincinnati Bell - The price is right. Do you think that will ever happen? |
Lahdee | | posted 27-Jun-2008 10:10am |
Well, I don't try to keep up with the latest, but once I do buy something new, I learn how to use it fast. |
romkey | | (reply to they) posted 27-Jun-2008 11:23am |
Apple is locked into AT&T exclusively for several years. Once that agreement expires I'm sure that the other US cellular companies will jump on the iPhone... but it may be 2-3 more years before Apple is allowed to sell it through other US companies, and even then they might choose to stick with just one; it's hard to predict.
It is possible to "unlock" an iPhone using free software, which will allow it to be used with a different phone company's SIM. You can only use it on a phone network that uses "GSM"; not all US cell phone networks do.
The 2nd gen iPhone is coming out on July 12th for a much lower price - $199. You can bet that there will be a lot of 2nd hand first generation iPhones on ebay after that, for much lower than $199, but I doubt they'll be below $100.
According to what I just read, they are usable with Cincinnati Bell if they're unlocked. |

I'll save this response for my SO... and make him get me an Iphone. |

No, although I'm certain that Toyota makes the Camry. I know the basics of a lot of technology, but I'm sure I underutilize most things. |

No, not really but it is fun to play with all the new gadgets! |
Irene007 | | posted 29-Jun-2008 4:44pm |
More or less - I'm up on a lot of stuff but take my phone for example; it's like a blueberry but I don't use half of the functions that come with it (like most electronic gadgets). Couldn't a phone just be a phone and a camera just be a camera? Everything comes with freakin' half inch manuals - I don't have time to read all that!!! |
cloudhugger | | (reply to Irene007) posted 30-Jun-2008 10:58am |
Remember when how excited people were to see the first tv's that had a vcr built right in? Than people began to hate that because the vcr would break making the tv a regular tv. And the vcr with the dvd built right in? How exciting till the dvd player takes a crap, leaving it just a regular vcr.
I cannot imagine what would possess a person to get excited about a tv built into the refrigerator door.
A phone cannot ever be just a phone. they have been trying to make a phone a part of anything else a person needs, like a clock radio, a dancing statue, a shoe, since the beginning of time. |
Irene007 |
Yeah... *snicker* a TV in a fridge door! I don't even own ONE, let alone have one in every room. Besides, TVs are 'passé' - computers are perfectly fine (if not better) entertainment! Now talk about multi-uses; it's my recipe book, my library, my news paper and news channel, my movie theater, my connection to my family (voice, video, text), my map, my oyster on a little screen! Who the hell has time to watch TV?? |
