I think I was, but not very often... the threat of it was used, I recall. I think it worked to get me to obey, but it's hard for me to tell if it did me good. I'm OK with other people using spanking, if they want. |

I got spanked so hard once by my father when i was 9 for taking his shotgun and taking the shells out of it and using metal straps i strapped down 13 12 gauge shotgun shells to the union pacific/amtrak rail road tracks right behind my house, the train flew by, heard about 10 booms, the other 3 never went off, next day there was 2 ATF agents and 4 FBI agents pulling in black suvs, apparently the train employees thought i was shooting at the train trying to derail it, they said next time they had to come out i was going to prison, my dad whipped me so hard i couldnt sit for a week, i had to crap standing up for a week |

 I am a Female who was spanked .
The spanking was excessive and put me in therapy for years.
Mom was an angry mom, and she took much of her frustration and anger in her life out on my butt. she used a wooden paddle and when that didn't make us cry she used my dad's belt. and when I refused to cry, she beat me harder till I cried. It seemed my crying made her feel better. When the belt didn't do it for her later in my older years, she ignored me. that hurt more than the belt. I have often looked back on that and wondered what I ever did to get punished so severly, but I don't remember ever doing anything that deserved such beatings. I only remember getting water on the floor once...I don't really remember what else I did.
I beleive a spanking on occasion for really bad things like stealing or running out into a busy street, or being ugly to other people after explaining why those are bad things to do, that is, as a last resort, is reasonable. |

Yes and it didn't help. Just made me distrust adults all the more. Spanking shouldn't be used. My mom used to whup me with a branch from a bush. None of it was frequent though. |

Yes, very occasionally and very lightly, with only a hand. It was a way to let me know that I'd done something wrong. It never hurt. I think it was effective, and I think it is perfectly reasonable for parents to spank their children on occasion. |

Wow what you did was some very serious stuff that could have landed you in prison wow and wow
and who knows what else they could have done to you like fines in the $$millions

Oh ouch you just described my parents they did the very same thing to me and my sisters my dad he
used his belt on us girls plus a wooden board as well
My teachers used a strap on our hands we were beaten and bruised and i will never forget it haunts me

I was smacked on occasion when I was a child. I don't believe it helped - it simply made me frightened and resentful of my parents. I am opposed to the use of smacking and I know that my mother regrets having smacked us. I find the idea that anyone might smack a child disturbing, especially if it is in response to a child's violence against someone else. Do what I say, not as I do...*sigh* |

Oh heck today these times we live in right now if you were 7 years old they would put you in an adult prison
and treat you as an adult
Yes times have changed for sure and now they could care less if your 9 or 12 they can and will treat you
as a criminal , thank God for those days you got into trouble back then?

Was spanked by my mom a lot. Dad usually just threatened to punish if talking to didn't work.
I liked when I had a choice between lecture and spanking - I almost always picked the spank and got it over with as lectures can make me feel really bad for a long time.
In the military I've come to be able to often tell between those who've been spanked or not as a child. Based on performance, self control and treatment of others; I usually perfer the spanked. |

I think the difference you are seeing is between people who were disciplined and people who weren't. Not necessarily disciplined with spanking. |

I remember one incident where I was worried I was going to get a spanking. I don't know if it ever happened... but I must have been pretty young because I was trying to figure out how to pack my pants with pillows. |

My mom said she spanked me once when I was little, and I got really indignant about it.
I never really did anything to warrant a spanking, or getting grounded or anything like that. I was a pretty boring kid, trouble-wise. |

im still spanked and im going into 12th grade. my dad is super strict about everything and if i do something wrong he whoops me with his belt until im black &blue but i deserved it every time and it does help me to try &behave better |

My father is usually a non-violent alcoholic, but he has a nasty temper, and when we were kids, he used to drink a lot, so when we got "in trouble" he'd spank us. That was his solution for everything, we bugged mom, spanking, we were giggling too loud in the back seat, spanking when we got home. Sometimes we didn't even have a warning. I became immune to the pain after a while, cause I was so mad whenever he did it. my worst memory is when my little sister had to get spanked for something, and all I heard was her crying bloody murder as spank after spank landed on her butt. I still haven't forgave my father for that. I will NEVER EVER spank my kids |
