I'm married and don't wear a ring. I'm not into jewelry, much less symbolic jewelry. I don't feel a need to silently show people that I'm married. |

I'm not married, but if I was I wouldn't want a ring. Actually, I wouldn't want to get married at all, but that's a different survey! |

We need to open a dating-room here, SC should be more helpful for single members here... JEE, most of us are not married, IRENEEEEEEEE, where are youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu??????? |

I'm not a tradition sort of person. I'm not into symbolic display like that. I don't think there's any reason that a trustworthy person needs to wear a ring to show they are taken. It's easy enough to just tell people you are married, if they ask. My husband doesn't wear one either. |

Not married. It is illegal for me to get married. If it was legal, I still probably wouldn't wear the signs of marriage because according to some they think it is immoral and against their religion. So because their voice seems to be louder than the voice of reason and compassion, I wouldn't set myself up for social suicide. I need to make a living and weak people judge. |

I have a wedding ring? |
| verouge | | (reply to LindaH) posted 4-Jun-2008 4:43am |
You're totally true.
In East countries, wearing the ring became a tradition, a materialistic way to show others that you are married or engaged.. I like it since it helps me to know whether a woman is engaged or not instead of hearing a "Sorry, I'm married" when asking her for a date for example and getting blushed then.. hehehe..
Some couples would have some sort of arguments about it if one of them is not wearing it. I do like wearing rings, in fact I've been wearing one since I had 20. I guess I'll stay wearing it even after marriage..
But I can't say that you're wrong since it has nothing to deal with trust, but then why waisting times looking for a couple of rings if you’re not gona wear it?

Why is it illegal? |
LindaH | | (reply to verouge) posted 4-Jun-2008 12:03pm |
Mine was resized too small, so I don't wear it any more. If I would have known we wouldn't be wearing them, we probably wouldn't have bought them. We were married in a courthouse, not a traditional ceremony. Nothing says you have to even use rings in the ceremony. |

There's something in Islam called "Bidaa", which means in English "Innovation", Islam considers "wearing the engagement ring for a married couple" a type of human innovation because wearing the ring had never meant you're married and you love your wife/husband and you don't cheat on them, not even the marriage paper that you sign, it's about the person from inside, about their belief and their behave toward their partner.
Do you have pictures for your wedding? How did it look like? |
LindaH | | (reply to verouge) posted 5-Jun-2008 6:24pm |
Nope, no pictures from the wedding. Just some from the reception. It was in a very small room, a few relatives, semi-casual clothes. It cost $50.00. We aren't extravagant, and we felt no need to make a big display of getting married. |
| verouge | | (reply to LindaH) posted 5-Jun-2008 7:06pm |
That's also nice, I am sure it was very simple and nice ceremony. |

I used to all the time, but it doesn't fit my finger anymore. So I put it in a jigger on my shelf. I wish it still fit me. |

For the next 10 1/2 months I'm married to my high school (ya know, that sounded alot less weird in my head..)..so yes..I am wearing my ring..
My parents wear their wedding rings everyday..Their wedding rings stating their marriage to each other..not their particular high schools. ..just thought I'd clear that up. |
