Wonderfully extensive list there.
Rock; classical (not together; that usually accumulates in ELO), New Wave; Electronic - or, rather, Kraftwerk; a smattering of indie, lo-fi, Nerd rock, and ska. |

A mix of things...mainly rock but also pop, a small amount of rap, a small amount of what might be termed country, and Jimmy Buffett who doesn't easily fit into a classification system. Try not to listen to bluegrass but when we're in Georgia my husband unfortunately inflicts this upon us. I also like some reggae. |

First favorite is Other -- World music-- and under that category are 2 different kinds of Portuguese folk music: rancho folclorico (folkdance) and fado (emotional ballads).
Then I like several different categories of Brazilian music: traditional samba (not too mellow); capoeira (martial arts percussion and chanting); forró (one kind of Brazilian "country" music); caipira/sertaneja (another type of Brazilian "country" music -- here the artists are mainly male duos who tend to dress in American cowboy outfits and their sound is somewhat similar to American country, only in Portuguese); and diva Gal Costa.
Then I like -- Native Hawaiian oli (chant-songs);
Tex-Mex (or conjunto) and sometimes other Latin styles like mariachi;
Traditional Cajun and some Zydeco;
and some other World music styles, like various African and Afro-Latino blends and some North African.
-- Blues -- especially earlier and folk blues guys like Howlin' Wolf, Tampa Red, Leadbelly, Big Boy Crudup, Big Joe Turner, Muddy Waters, Bukka White, Big Maceo, Little Walter, Robert Johnson, Cannon's Jug Stompers, etc.;
-- traditional jazz (or dixieland, or New Orleans jazz).
The only rock band I like is Grateful Dead.
-- I like some American folk and my fav here would probably be Pete Seeger;
-- And Bluegrass -- including Hazel Dickens, Stanley Bros. and the Carter Family.

It would be easier to tell you what I don't like.......rap, metal, hiphop, some rock and roll, anything that is filthy....anything that is just noise, nothing else. |

Rocknroll, bluegrass, classical. I listen to odd things too. this survey has been so done to death, but I imagine answers would change often enough. Not mine tho, I'm set in my ways. |

Well, mostly I listen to rock. Rock from the 70s and 60s is preferred..but stuff now a days is good. I need to be able to understand the words too. Amazing guitar riffs mean nothing to me if all it is is a grown man with long hair screaming.
I also enjoy some country music. But not the crap about sexy tractors. No.
I like bluegrass because I am a fan of the banjo.
Classical because I wish I could play piano like that. I actually wish I could play piano in general..but that's another story.
I checked pop because I'm sure that pops up somewhere..Although I am more apt to avoid music that everyone else listens to..and instead come back to it months/years later on my own.
And I checked other because that seemed broad and I'm sure it occurs. Like screaming yaks..oooh yeah. |
